When Marine Sgt. Nicholas Brody returns home following eight years in captivity, CIA agent Carrie Mathison thinks he has turned and is connected to a terror plot to be carried out on American soil, so she engages him in a dangerous game of cat and mouse that puts America's national security at risk. Later on, Carrie gets a promotion and returns to the front lines overseas. She is assigned to one of the CIA's most volatile and dangerous stations in the Middle East, where she is in the heart of battle in the war on terror. Years later, after being disillusioned and placing herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, Carrie becomes estranged from the CIA, eventually returning stateside where she works for a foundation providing aid to Muslims living in America.

Season six may work as escapism if nothing else. Go to Full Review

Carrie's moodswings and bad decisions only seem to make her more in-demand. But there's little pleasure in watching her save the world any more. The chemistry has gone. Go to Full Review

The end result was a patchy and incoherent story that was salvaged by Lesli Linka Glatter's taut direction of the suspenseful finale. Go to Full Review

Thrilling and explosive, Homeland season 6 caught me by surprise in being this good. Specially after the fact that I had more than 5 years of break from the show. Danes and Patinkin offer masterful acting. Full review in Spanish Go to Full Review

Obama's political struggles give way to the debauchery of the Trump era. To a White House that looks more Veep than Homeland. Stranger than fiction. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

This season was so on the money and of the moment one wondered if it had been written by clairvoyants. Go to Full Review

Kim A @Kimmo Dec 4 This season was not as good as the previous seasons. Jake Weber was horrible. The fake accent and acting were very distracting. See more FD D @Francisdiet1 02/12/2023 You can't fault it Quinn is amazing , Saul is immense , you simply can't beat homelands See more the s @The_Stranger 01/28/2022 This was the season that made me wonder how Homeland was renewed for a 7th season. All of the elements are in place here for it to be an amazing season but it just doesn't gel. There's a catch-22 going on…America's fascination with Muslims and the Middle East had waned, Americans were tired of the constant war and news and the high real-life drama had worn off. Viewers had soured on the idea of a series focused on things they were trying to move on from. At the same time, writers shifting the story back to the U.S. made for some boring plot lines and the writers didn't seem to know which direction to go in. They shifted Carrie out of the CIA into a position that was boring and eliminated a lot of the action, drama and thrills that her role previously provided. She's a mom now, she's hanging out with lawyers and trying to make the world a better place. But this is fiction we're talking about and that kind of fiction doesn't make for riveting stories or plots. Quinn is limping around (after spending last season basically as a shadow/punching bag) which is a shame because his character is pretty compelling and the actor who plays him could have carried a series on his own, likely. So the main reasons to watch are for, all intents and purposes, out of the picture. Saul is involved in some boring arms deal situation so without the action and drama and intrigue of previous season, this season plays out like a soap opera for bored housewives. Even at this pace, it's a better shoe than most of what was airing at the time but myself and many others almost gave up on Homeland during this season. There just wasn't much to cling to to be honest and the writing hit a literal low point for what had otherwise been an incredible series. I will say this: the writers use a very specific method in this season to keep viewers engaged: they take characters you've come to care about and they destroy their lives right in front of you. The approach gets old though…nobody has the kind of bad luck that Carrie and Quinn have…the writers knock them around to the point where it's almost painful to watch (Carrie's daughter being taken from her, Quinn devolved into a drooling, drugged up mess who is constantly beaten, shot, punched, assaulted, etc). That's not a tenable way to keep viewers coming back…it's a cheap trip, viewers continue to tune in to see things get better. Good writers don't need those kind of tricks and gimmicks and it does get old quick. I'm fact, some of the episodes are downright hard to watch because of how much punishment the characters take. See more 11/01/2020 I'm definitely not okay with the finale, which they could make it way more reasonable and impressive. I'm especially not okay with how they decided the storyline of peter quinn. It's hurtful and egregious and will not make up for their poorly-developed plot. See more 11/01/2020 Nicht alle Aspekte des Deals mit diesem Unternehmen sind ideal See more 09/21/2020 Homeland was excellent being about spies, it turned into a poor man's House of Card, poorly written.
