Critics Consensus

The Hormone Monsters are pushing paper and phalluses in Human Resources, a workplace spinoff of Big Mouth that's just as raunchy and sweet.

If you’ve never seen “Big Mouth”, some of the humor may be lost on you, but if you’ve been waiting for this show since it was announced in 2019, then “Human Resources” does not disappoint. Go to Full Review

If your favorite characters in "Big Mouth" are the Hormone Monsters, you'll geek out to this equally irreverent — and hilarious — spinoff. Go to Full Review

With Big Mouth as precedent and knowing how much I still laughed here, I’d happily watch more Human Resources episodes to see how this proudly immature show comes of age. Go to Full Review

Human Resources is everything that its predecessor is not and earns the spot title of “best TV spinoff." Go to Full Review
William Schwartz Book & Film Globe 07/21/2022
Human Resources preaches the philosophy of minimal consequences from its tower of unfunny dick jokes, hinging on the likability of a bunch of fundamentally psychotic characters who are supposed to be relatable based on their love of unrestrained sex. Go to Full Review

Human Resources is a bit of a revelation. Yes, it is still filled with inappropriate jokes dealing with ejaculation at almost every given opportunity. But it also has deep moments of heartfelt sadness. Go to Full Review

See more Ethan W @RT04899791 06/19/2023 The Big mouth creators are back! With them, bringing us a more detailed look at the ins and outs of the monster world. With a stacked cast, plenty of dick jokes and a surprisingly heart felt story on the effects of grief and death, Human Resources solidifies itself as one of the best, if not the best, of the franchise. See more American M @RT68850174 06/05/2023 I see a lot of people like it but me, eh, it's ok I guess, it would be one of those movies where I have nothing to watch but want to pass the time kinda, it's also a little to wacky, cartoony for my liking. Also the foul language, no thanks. See more Corey W @RT31768611 02/15/2023 Human Resources is the series sibling we don't need but are glad to have. The new setting allows for a larger variety of jokes and gives this Big Mouth spinoff a natural progression that works within the established format. There are still plenty of dick jokes and innuendo, but the series has allowed itself to widen its scope from merely teenage lust and the writers seem to be having some fun. The stable of voice actors is stunning, and each do a nice job animating their respective characters, molding them uniquely enough to stand on their own in the cacophony of zaniness that comprises Human Resources. There are the hormone monsters, anxiety bugs, and shame wizards we'll recognize from Big Mouth, but now they're joined by logic rocks, ambition trolls, and love bugs (an addition to Big Mouth just last season). It can all get a little busy at times and there is a willingness to sacrifice focus for a joke, but it carries the same weight as its sibling series which is a sign that bodes well overall. Human Resources will likely serve as the series bridge in a year or two when Big Mouth becomes unsustainable, and we can rest assured after the first few episodes that this development will likely be a welcome one.
