verything that happens in one episode in this show could make an entire series. Yet you don't learn anything about the characters at the heart of the story, so you end up not caring much about their fate.

There are some fine performances and nifty costume and production design, but not everyone will buy prehensile dreadlocks as a mutant superpower.

Intergalactic is really best thought of as Prisoner: Cell Block H launched into hyperspace, but thus far without the kind of rich character development we saw in the classic 1980s Aussie drama.

Crawl's Steyn and Bend it Like Beckham's Negra are perfectly fine as our heroes, but it's the actors playing the bad seeds who really stand out.

Tries too hard to create its world, leaving a confusing mess in its wake.

What it lacks is dramatic weight, since the action feels like an audition for a student production where everybody's over-acting like mad in a desperate bid to get noticed

Audience Reviews for Intergalactic: Season 1

I think there is come sort of mob mentality going on with the reviews of this show. I'll be honest, I've never seen such a large consensus of reviews that are are at best, unfair to the show and at worst a directed effort to sabotage a show for reasons I couldn't even fathom to understand. First off, the production quality of this show is great. The ONLY thing about the production I didn't like was the pajama suit Rebecca wore throughout. I get the rationale for the stark white without adornment vibe but it simply doesn't work for the actress or for the role. Those elf shoes gotta go. Beyond that costume there is nothing about this show that feels "B" like others have suggested. The writing is cohesive and relevant without relying on tired space cliche's, the technology is adequate and generally in keeping with where we might be in a society a 150 years ahead of now, the story is interesting and the characters are unique, varied and believable.

I learned you have to stick with this one for a few episodes. It does get better. Still don't like Ash. Wimp. Rest of cast makes the show really interesting

Don't be put off by the prehensile dreadlocks, this show is far better than the first impressions. Great for fans of The Expanse, another fantastic show, which, lets be honest, also has a few cringe elements.

Terrible writing and acting, saved by some reasonable production values (imagine something slightly above your typical SyFy channel production). Plot holes everywhere, character motivations completely nonsensical. The CGI is pretty decent, but the photography and camera work outside the CGI is also very low quality. Predictable storyline, too. This show has nothing sci-fi hasn't delivered in the past 50 years... Avoid at all costs.

On episode 2 and it's a bit slow. It's interesting but I definitely wouldn't call Ash Harper "fearless." Once out of the comforts of her position as a cop and, although, she does at times fight her capture, she does tend to act like a spoiled child that has lost their comforts and wants mom to rescue her. The intermittent whining and breakdowns are sometimes difficult to watch. Still watching season 1 to see if it gets any better. Hopefully, Ash grows some backbone on her own.

Absolute rubbish from actors to story only saving grace is decant special effects this is one of those wish never made.

Incepe prost, se termina prost, are ceva momente bune intre

This turned out to be way better than I expected, especially given the very low RT rating! The first episode starts out weak, but the show quickly picks up and gets much more compelling.

Wow. Absolute garbage. Annoying characters. Exaggerated, wide-eyed, constantly snarling, over-the-top bad acting with very little fully fleshed dialogue. Non sensical plot, which makes you question every action of every character (How, in the supposed future, would someone - the daughter of a seemingly very high up government type no less - be sentenced to a lifetime off-planet banishment, off the strength of a few seconds of CCTV footage, no other evidence - DNA, fingerprints, alibi's etc mustn't exist in the future - with no trial or defence - later seemingly disproved in 5 minutes by a lowly IT tech guy? Then, later on: "Oh, we must turn that multi-million dollar ship around that we've just loaded like 10 prisoners on to, at who know what cost." Then later still: "Before we rescue you, whilst you're there, we're sorry we banished you and you nearly died several times and were forced to murder 2 spaceships worth of crew, but can you do us a favour and track and capture a ruthless, super dangerous enemy of the state please, even though you're bruised, battered, hard-done by and have no weapons or backup". Then "I know you can do it" - really - how?!). Bad examples of sci-fi props that cannot be explained (why was one of the prisoners (the enemy of the state one) wearing what appeared to be a restraining mask, a la Hannibal Lector, and what mechanism caused her to suddenly be able to remove it without obstacle? Why did a ship in a vacuum cause two other ships to collide, as if they'd been sucked together?) How does a cheap looking microchip stuck into your skin suddenly allow perfect control of dreadlocks to be used as deadly weapons with no thought for the physics of counter-balancing the weight they are holding (ie 1 person will hold aloft another person 5 metres away with dreadlocks, but they won't topple over or even struggle with the weight because magic)? Inconsistent characters (murdering useful people like the pilot of the ship, but leaving useless, annoying, whiny people alive, even when they royally screw up or are clearly a burden). Special effects range from terrible most of the time, to actually quite good some of the time (hence the half a star for this, otherwise it would be zero). Too much orange filter. I have to question why anyone would get paid to do this or pay to watch it. This is less than SyFy / Asylum / Doctor Who quality (they are usually at least watchable) - yet this is advertised as blockbuster sci fi TV - it looks like something from the 80's. 'The Expanse' this is not. Do not watch.
