"Midnight Kiss" has some interesting ideas and certainly feels original, but it comes apart a few times, especially in its final scenes.
Midnight Kiss is a slasher with representation on its mind, a dagger in its hand, and films like Knife + Heart on its side. A solid Into The Dark that wraps "whodunnit?" scripting in glamour, sensuality, and mistrust.
So the fact we have a typical, by the books slasher that is like an explosion of gayness is so incredibly refreshing and satisfying.
Hulu's latest Into the Dark entry, Midnight Kiss, unleashes a suspenseful serial killer story that packs a major punch before the ball drops.
One of the big issues with Midnight Kiss is that it takes too long for the killer to become a true threat to the main characters.
Midnight Kiss achieves a level of mediocrity rendering it thoroughly unspecial.
Overall, MIDNIGHT KISS is a decent slasher that shines a necessary light on the LGBTQ+ community without diving deep into stereotypes more commonly associated with a hetero-cis P.O.V.
