What to Know

Critics Consensus

Freewheeling, shaggy and just a little awkward in a charming way, Everybody's in LA is an amusing showcase of the City of Angels as well as an effective calling card for John Mulaney as a host.

An often hilarious limited series that proves both how pliable the talk show is and how something this good requires more idiosyncratic care and detail than what a regular five-nights-a-week series allows. Go to Full Review
Judy Berman TIME Magazine 05/16/2024
An agile moderator, Mulaney keeps the conversation flowing between in-studio guests, effectively prompts viewers calling in to the show live through anecdotes related to each night’s theme, and seems to know just when to change the subject. Go to Full Review

The best moments in the program said a lot about the comedy process, the wisdom of experience, the gift of being extemporaneously funny. Go to Full Review

I’m going to miss and rewatch Everybody’s In L.A. so much. But that’s also awesome. Missing things is good. It means they meant something. Go to Full Review

…Mulraney is looking well, his delivery is a great and his monologue about life in LA is a winner…live chat-shows are generally hit-and-miss, but his monologues are a winner... Go to Full Review

There's a chaotic quality to Everybody's in L.A. that's both the show's charm and what holds it back from greatness. Go to Full Review

Sanja B 06/03/2024 So bad… feel sorry for the guests See more Shannon S @sma165 05/22/2024 I loved it and I wish John Mulaney would create more of these shows. I wasn’t a huge fan of his comedy before, but this was so entertaining. I found the awkwardness endearing and hilarious. I loved the expert guests as well. It really added something to the stale late night talk show format. When Kimmel retires I would love to see some version of this show take its place! See more Jan V 05/18/2024 Fist episode was great, but after the second the show is just a mess. And no, it's not the kind of weird mess that is good because the weird mess melts into something fantastic. It doesn't. Most of the later episodes just fall dead except for the guest in the public. The show has it's moments, but too much of it just doesn't work well. See more Laurie-Faith G @GibbyPhD 05/09/2024 If you like Mulaney's comedy, you will certainly like this. If you don't, you still might like this. If you are bored and scrolling for something to watch, you certainly won't be more bored after watching this onslaught of the bizarre. The thing I love best about John Mulaney’s #EverybodysInLA is that he uses Wang Chung’s theme song from TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A. as his own. I hope “the kids” rediscover that soundtrack because it’s an all-time banger. See more Sara D 05/07/2024 First off, this show is not going to be for everyone- that’s for sure. It’s weird, it’s awkward, it’s kinda pointless and I think it does it all hilariously. I could actually do without some of the guests because the talking over people is a thing that drives me insane and comedians seem to all do this to each other. But the montages of life in LA I think are brilliant and I don’t even live there. If you like quirky, dry, irrelevant humor you’ll be pleased. See more Kate H @katieflarrity 05/07/2024 Weird, and I like it. He should probably give some direction to the guests & crew tho. Not introducing the tree guy or Mae Martin while they are on camera was pretty brutal to watch. See more Read all reviews
