Where its English-language equivalent would induce in me only scorn, this show, set in a remote village in the Ardennes, seduces at every turn. Go to Full Review

Rick D @RIckD468 Jun 16 Very strong mystery series with a French/Belgian flavor to it. Watching it, I was reminded of the difference between American police dramas and those of other nations. In America, the police are always perfect. Less so in England, and still less in Germany. Then there are the French. La Foret is a very well-done police procedural. We are drawn into the lives of a small town in the Ardennes and sucked into the many melodramas. About my only complaint is that I was baffled that a woman was allowed to stay on the case despite massive conflicts of interest. Having said that, the story was great and the acting was top tier. It's leaving Netflix soon, but there are only six episodes, and it was easy to binge the entire series in three days. See more Val T @ValCT Jun 10 This has promise but far too many flaws to make it truly watchable. Not least is the overwrought female police lead that should have been taken off the investigation in episode one because of her missing child. Then when her hubby is discovered to be having a relationship with another missing fifteen year old, soon to be found dead, (no mention of paedophilia until episode 6 and then in passing and referencing another character) she is still allowed to continue -- angry, emotional and out of control. Police procedure was messy and disordered throughout and the woman on the bike (herself a formerly missing child) is guided by a 'spirit' white wolf to advance the plot thus rendering the police activity irrelevant. A confused series that can't make its mind up what it wants to be. Well done to the actors--- how they kept straight faces is miraculous! See more Birch T @RT90733475 02/26/2025 I watched the Åre Murders, which I would give 3.5 stars, and this was recommended next. This is far superior to the Åre Murders in nearly every way - acting, story, filming, suspense, etc. Really a great little series! See more Joshua F @RT29381580 02/12/2025 So into it. Love it. The vibe. The atmosphere The actors! See more Jean B @RT64879657 08/20/2024 I very much enjoyed this series. It is well written and suspenseful, very well acted. There are many surprises along the way, and the story has a good balance of darkness and light. I highly recommend it. See more Read all reviews
