This Netflix original series follows college football teams that aren't major programs and don't get much national attention. After a couple seasons of profiling recruits at East Mississippi Community College, which has won several NJCAA national titles, the reality series shifts its focus to Independence Community College. The Kansas school doesn't have the same type of gridiron pedigree as EMCC -- it's trying to rebound from more than a decade of losses -- but the players are dealing with many of the same challenges that the EMCC squad faced -- both on and off the field.

There's the season where the team wins in spite of their personal issues, and the season where everything goes wrong because of them. This new season is the latter, and you won't see a better drama all summer. Go to Full Review

I was fascinated by watching the enthusiasm of the third season turn in on itself, but I also don't need to ever spend another second with Coach Brown. Go to Full Review

Last Chance U has also become more self-aware. The show understands that its cameras, its Netflix contract, and its 'cast of characters' all have an indivisible connection to the greater American society around them. Go to Full Review

Despite being arguably the best recurring sports documentary going, it's also one that can be emotionally draining. Go to Full Review

08/10/2020 Definitely not as good since the team just sucks. Coach is just as annoying as season one but with more ego. Not sure if the official critic reviews are fake or what but this season definitely does not deserve a 100% fresh. Very entertaining none-the-less. See more 11/15/2019 It was a mess watching Coach Brown rip into his star players, flipping out on the field and constant outbursts like he was a baby throwing a temper tantrum. I feel bad for the kind and caring coaches who were fired for being too good to the players, and the constant threat of him cutting kids left and right from his program, including Markiese King, a huge part of the offense. Other than Coach Brown I thought it was good having the caring teacher help him through her class, and the side coaches helping the kids. See more Read all reviews
