Months after a near-fatal car crash sends him hurtling back to the year 1973, police Detective Sam Tyler begins to give up hope that he'll return to his former life. Nonetheless, he rises through the ranks of the department, despite clashes with his morally lax boss, Detective Chief Inspector Gene Hunt. Sam gets a further surprise when a new member joins their team: Glenn Fletcher, a new recruit who, Sam knows, will grow into the chief inspector who mentors Sam back in his future life.

It's a ridiculous premise executed with such gusto and wit that there is no point trying to resist it. Go to Full Review

One of the charms of "Life on Mars" is its reluctance to overindulge in '70s nostalgia. You never feel as if you are watching "The Mod Squad" with tea. Go to Full Review

M B @Timbero Jun 11 Extremely original, entertaining and involving series. Great writing and attention to detail, fantastic acting and some fun comedy too. See more Bees 10/16/2024 I absolutely sobbed at the ending. They write it so masterfully that you can sort of craft your own idea of what’s happened. You end knowing what’s real and what isn’t even less than when you started - and you’re glad for it. At this point, it’s hard to know what you want the truth to be. You’ve grown to love the life he’s built, but you also want him to have the people he loved originally back. It’s truly the most thought provoking thing I’ve watched in a while. See more Owain W 11/28/2023 One of the best serieses out there See more Rain R 07/31/2023 One of my favourite series of all time. Incredible acting, for someone who lived and worked in those times the props and sets are absolutely perfect. TV at its absolute best. See more Read all reviews
