Based on the crime-novel series by author Caroline Graham, "Midsomer Murders" follows the efforts of Detective Chief Inspector John Barnaby to solve crimes that occur in the wealthy, isolated English county of Midsomer, a picturesque and peaceful place on the outside but one filled with amoral and snobbish eccentrics with all kinds of vices. His latest assistant is Detective Sergeant Jamie Winter. DCI Barnaby took over in series 14, replacing his older cousin, Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby, who retired.

James B @Chigurh Jan 24 Boring, derivative, limp and uninspired. john Nettles and Jane Wymark were great, plots were convoluted and touched upon social inequities. Neil Duggan is a lump and Fiona Dolman is a ham. Fleur, (Annette Badland), the coroner is a pompous, delusional prig who constantly belittles those around her suggesting a deep vein of insecurity, which she masks with ridiculous stories of sexual conquests and daredevil exploits (baloney)! Nick Hendrix (Jamie) is a spineless and naive punching bag, I suspect his character survives because he’s so peripheral that no one really cares if he is there or not. Ever present mood setting music is forced upon the viewer to signal to them what to feel about characters because the writing and story cannot carry the weight. This series is well past its sell-by date, populated by neer-do-wells working to the lowest of standards. A waste of time now, unwatchable! I think the end is nigh - please Or get new writers See more Glor G @rottenglor Dec 23 What on godly earth has happened to Season 25? It’s a farce. Being pecked to death by a cuckoo clock bird? Really? It seems the budgets for the episodes are also bare bones. The story lines are ridiculous and some of the characters are over the top. Not a fan of this season. See more Read all reviews
