Five juvenile offenders with nothing in common find themselves working together on a community service project, and their differing personalities soon cause sparks to fly. But that's nothing compared to what happens when a freak electrical storm hits town. Shortly thereafter, they find that they are developing superpowers. Paranoid Kelly can now hear the thoughts of others, while Simon, who has always been overlooked, can suddenly make himself invisible. Curtis can turn back time, while Alisha finds that anyone who touches her will lust after her. Nathan, to his chagrin, seems to have suffered no aftereffects of the storm. Now, on top of dealing with the realities of teenage life and finishing their service project, they must figure out how to handle their new abilities and find out just what, if anything, they are expected to do with them.

Andrew Billen The Times (UK) 04/25/2018
But last night's debut of season two was dominated by the dopiest of standard-issue sci-fi plots, the arrival of a shape shifter with the ability to morph into the appearance of the Misfits. Go to Full Review

Season two gets off to a cracking, confident start, not worrying about moving the story forwards too much or lingering over the series one finale cliffhanger. Go to Full Review

It feels like over the break between the seasons, the producers, writers, actors, and crew polished all the rough edges away. Every line feels just a little bit funnier. Go to Full Review

It suffered a bit plotwise but with the other elements firmly in check, that could be overlooked. Go to Full Review

The show returns with its infectious blend of sex, superpowers, violence, toilet humour and outrageous plotting intact, making Kick-Ass look like a Disney film. Go to Full Review

This is the perfect jumping on point for new viewers and remains a fresh new take on the increasingly bloated arena of genre TV. Go to Full Review

W T @Winreviews Dec 21 Well, well, well it is really interesting how wonderfully funded conversion therapy is and how hidden in plain sight it is. Now I’m not aware of telling any screenwriters about how someone lost their virginity, Simon is based on a real person. In fact all the characters have real life muses. I know because I’m one of them. The lightening strike in the storm is about, electro convulsive therapy in conversion therapy. It’s very personalised. It’s also linked to me being raped more than once and even stalked at a university called NAS, in Sydney. The National Art school in Darlinghurst that use to be a prison hence the community service plot, but they renovated it into a fine arts university. It’s across the Jewish museum. Suprise! Nathan, the gay episode about him and Simon is actually about a lesbian having sex with a boy as a teenager. It’s a joke about her becoming straight because she questioned her sexuality as a teenager which is healthy. It’s Freudian. Actors are puppets. See more 11/01/2020 A real ground breaking show with a second season that eclipsed the first delivering sharper episodes with tighter writing, and introducing a huge backstory setting the series up for a long lifetime. Sadly by the end of the first season some of the key acts departed. See more 08/09/2016 Idealizing its own premise, the second season of Misfits utterly becomes a satisfying and enjoyable experience, building upon the first season's style, pacing, writing and acting, while creatively expanding upon its own mythology. See more 06/25/2015 Probably the best season of the piece. And that's surely saying something. See more 11/29/2013 Although the show suffers from a bevy of extremely unlikable and hard to love actors and actresses, the unique and gritty plot offer a surprising redemption for this show. Offering a grimy, down to earth storyline that abandons the traditional focus on superpowers and instead aims right at the heart and soul of each character, Misfits is a winner disguised as a loser. Give it a few episodes and watch as the you begrudgingly allow yourself to begin to form attachments to some of the characters. While this process takes place, the thoughtful and unique situations will get you thinking and make you snicker as you follow along with the dark British humor. No consensus on whether or not this show will keep up the good work, but it is definitely worth a look. See more Read all reviews
