Connect U @RT83688632 Jun 1 After watching Mismatched on Netflix, I’m genuinely disturbed—not because of poor acting or a weak plot (though there’s plenty of that)—but because of the complete disconnect this show has from the cultural roots it pretends to represent. This series feels like an uninspired attempt to glamorize Western teenage angst while trampling over the deep values and traditions that have guided Indian families for generations. Instead of celebrating real Indian youth and their aspirations, it showcases shallow characters obsessed with “steak medium rare,” calling their moms “hot,” and reducing every relationship to a hormonal mess. It’s ironic that while many in the West are turning to Indian philosophy, yoga, and spirituality to find grounding, shows like this—made by creators who seem confused about their own identities—are eager to discard it all in the name of being ‘cool.’ It raises serious questions about the intent behind such productions. Are these stories truly reflective of modern India, or are they the product of a disconnected creative circle trying to mimic a Western template without context or conscience? To the writers, producers, and platforms backing such content: Indian youth deserve stories that challenge them, inspire them, and connect them with their roots—not content that makes them feel ashamed of it.
