Lynne B @RT24745457 Sep 1, 2026 I found the film very unsettling and thought provoking. It was so deeply disturbing how a persons mind can evolve into this monster and what he did to others. The film was captivating but I found the actor who portrayed Ed looked the part but his voice was simply ridiculous as he sounded Mickey Mouse or Ernie (Bert and Ernie) and he kept using a slight Irish twang to it. This I found ruined the film because it was far too comical and took away the characters impact. See more Esteban C @RT03454761 Aug 29, 2026 charlie hunnam deserves nominations and awards for this performance and is definitely someone to watch, because wow!!! the season is well set, costumes and locations and all, but his personification of ed gein, in such a compelling yet terrifying way, was THE ONE to applaud. didn’t know much about it all before watching it, and even though i’ve heard it wasn’t as accurate as the real events, this one was a pretty solid narration of what happened with this monster. the special effects and costumes and everything related to the details were on point. i loved how we switched to the most relevant movies this case inspired throughout film history and how the story was told by those timelines as well. a great one, a watchable one and, although not my favorite of this series, a necessary season in terms of storytelling and impact in modern day history! But this Ed gein series was alot of lies and untrue facts . Big one he didn't help catch Ted Bundy at all. So many other inconscienticies.If you are going to make a show about a serial killer make it factual. My other issue was they made a huge deal about the movies based on Ed gein. Then they even lied in that aspect because they made a huge scene where Ed gein wielded a chainsaw and he never used a chainsaw. Just tried to relate it to Texas chainsaw massacre for no reason. Charlie Hunnam acting was astonishing. Not for everyone but if you open your mind and let this take you on a journey it is engaging and in parts surprisingly moving considering what a messed up and troubled person this story is about. I credit that to the music, the writing and the acting. Yes he was sick, yes he was a monster, but THIS is just disgusting in every conceivable way. It's unsettling throughout, with a creepy atmosphere and psychological horror that makes Gein's story hard to look away from. Charlie Hunnam is committed as Ed Gein, with Laurie Metcalf standout as his domineering mother, Augusta, whose relationship with him adds a disturbing psychological layer behind his descent into darkness. I liked the show's exploration of Gein's influence on horror films like Psycho, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and The Silence of the Lambs. The meta angle is interesting, though it can distract from the main story. The biggest issue is its reliance on shock value, with some unnecessarily graphic scenes and an uneven shift into fictionalized territory. its disturbing, atmospheric, and well-acted, even if it doesn't always handle its ambitious ideas perfectly, but definitely the kind of series that isn't for everyone.
