Critics Consensus

While it relies too heavily on the workplace comedy formula, Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet is nonetheless hilarious and stands out for exploring the gaming industry with intelligence, thoughtfulness, and sincerity.

[An episode] may be the single funniest thing I've watched this year. Go to Full Review

Rob McElhenney looks like he's having a blast in this free-wheeling little workplace comedy... Tech-savvy fun. Go to Full Review

For a show to shake off a potentially ropey premise and become something as confident as powerful as this is incredible. Go to Full Review

While the show deals heavily in parody-most of it very funny-it never devolves into mere irony. The supporting characters are drawn richly enough to make you care about their moral development beyond the thrill of pulling back the curtain... Go to Full Review

An extremely ingenious and fun series. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Think of it as a less bro-y counterpart to Silicon Valley, or one of Community's more video-game-obsessed episodes stretched to series length. It's even got Danny Pudi. Only, it comes from the creators of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Go to Full Review

Jude F @Soundwave12 Dec 23 Mythic Quest is very solid. It is a very wacky show but it always stays grounded. See more Chris M. @CriMcD Nov 10 I know I am behind but I just got a chance to start watching this show. I Love Always Sunny & this looked like it would be similar to Silicon Valley as far as the Tech Workplace Comedy Style goes however I can't get passed the 4th episode. I watched the 1st three episodes and did not laugh once. I kept hoping it just took a while to get going but halfway through episode 4 I have up because there is not anything funny, charming, intelligent or even redeemable about Mythic Quest. It falls completely flat, doesn't get any better & throws "an agenda" into the audience face by having unnecessary storylines about certain coworkers who pine over one another for no reason that never pushes along any kind of plot or gives the show any real value as a workplace comedy. I am sorely disappointed because I really like Rob McElhenney & also was excited to see the actor who plays Cricket on Sunny in another role. If you also feel like this, do yourself a favor & rewatch Always Sunny or one of the many other new Comedy Shows that have come out recently like The Chair Company (HBOMax), Solar Opposites (Hulu), Peacemaker (HBOMax), Glenn Howertons show A.P. Bio (Netflix), Bad Thoughts or I Think You Should Leave (Netflix). All of these are 1,000 X's funnier than Mythic Quest & they also don't shove an agenda down your thought... See more Y C Sep 1 First season is great, funny, great one off episode in the middle of the season See more David T @Ubii2001 Apr 14 Its pocket episode mid-season was very good but the producers’ own fears and megalomanias resulted in a show that was both a near hit and a near miss; it was all too often obsequious and cypheric. The premise is a great one and there are fun characters like David, Pooty, CW, Brad, and Poppy—but all too often Rob, Megan, and Charlie were high on their own supply and veered into many of the same old vanities that even marred Always Sunny in later seasons. Always Sunny was already well-established by then. This one isn’t. It’s a little better than okay. See more James A Mar 8 Great characters: Carl, Brad, Poppy, and Rob are all standouts. Sometimes the humour can be a little asinine, but the premise is great, good plot, great characters, and top acting make the show a must watch. See more Aaron G 02/24/2025 Didn't know what to think at first but this show is actually really really good. Worth the watch. See more Read all reviews
