It's Nick Swardson's party ... and you're invited! The comedian and actor ("RENO 911!") stars in this live-action sketch show, where he transports viewers -- whether they like it or not -- into his demented comedic world. Irreverent digital shorts, man-on-the-street segments and sketches inspired by the Internet sensation "Gay Robot" are included.

Mike Hale New York Times 05/08/2020
Overall, Pretend Time can be recommended to multitaskers as mildly entertaining background noise — the comedy equivalent of having the radio on while you work. Go to Full Review
Brian Lowry Variety 05/08/2020
In such an environment, tastelessness is both expected and tolerable -- if it manages to be funny, that is -- a saving grace that too often eludes "Pretend Time." Go to Full Review
Steve Heisler AV Club 05/08/2020
Swardson provokes reactions from the audience, and sometimes the reactions are simply disgust at how far he's willing to take the scenes. If a few fall short, so what. At least Swardson went for it in this promising, funny show. Go to Full Review
Kari Croop Common Sense Media 05/08/2020
2/5
Allows us to conclude two things: 1) Swardson can be really funny... and 2) once he runs out of good stuff, he turns first to scatalogical jokes before rolling out completely disgusting (and ultimately un-funny) sex gags. Go to Full Review

1.5/5
Obviously, Pretend Time is filled with very low-brow, raunchy humor -- which is usually funny in Swardson's hands. But here, the punch lines are predictable and the clever use of crudeness from Grandma's Boy is mostly absent. Go to Full Review
