ORLY J @RT22678094 11/25/2024 This the best Korean show I've watched (or at least tied with 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo') and a top tier show in any country. I watch in Korean where the show is challenging but even more interesting because many of the characters speak in Jeju dialect which can be pretty different than standard Korean. But I'm sure the universal themes and excellent acting come across just reading subtitles. It doesn't gloss over its characters flaws and the things they've done wrong in life but its sympathy for and ultimate optimism about the human condition is strongly uplifting. I don't even usually like 'slice of life' shows but this is one so superbly done it's impossible not to love. See more Amalia I @RT92977716 01/16/2024 Wonderful series! Thoughtful and realistic. Great actors! See more Mousepotato P @RT67084038 06/24/2023 Just started watching Kdramas like last week because an acquaintance recommended Goblin because she went to vacation in Quebec City, Canada. Unfortunately, the first one I saw was Hometown Cha Cha Cha. Hometown was too fun and good. I watched this, "Our Blues," mainly because I wanted to see more of Shin Mina. On the outside it seems like a more serious "Hometown" copy, but it is much heavier to watch, especially after a light romcom like Hometown. It made me sad to see the Shin Mina character so unhappy. Even with an Allstar cast, I didn't find the storylines that interesting and, I admit, I didn't care about any of the characters, other than Shin Mina and the women divers. The captain of the ship, like the Du Sik character in Hometown, seemed miscast, like he was just going through the motions, like an extra. If not for his lively opposite, Han Jimin, that storyline was like an meaningless endless pit. Beautifully shot and in a very similar setting as Hometown Cha Cha Cha, but it only made me want to rewatch Hometown even more. Heavy, if that's your cup of tea. See more V V @RT78432216 05/04/2022 This drama is a strange mash-up of well-worn Kdrama tropes like "he took my child and now I have nothing to live for," "we are all one big family at the fish market," "I need to pay for my daughter's education, so I will borrow money from everyone," and "Jenny, Juno." The plot is not well thought out and appears illogical at times, nothing short of a "makjang." Fists, knives, and pork intestines are all flying around. There is no humor and even less quality storytelling; the writer, who is well-known for her other melodramas, focuses on subplots and ignores the main plot line. There are so many parallel stories running at the same time that it appears as if four different dramas are jumbled together. The only thing they all have in common is the fish market in Jejudo. As a result, it's difficult to become emotionally attached to the characters; their lives flash by like images in a kaleidoscope. The star-studded cast is robbed of their chance to impress; each actor has only a single episode to shine before becoming an extra in someone else's story. Is this tomato fresh or rotten? It's not rotten, but it's also not a tomato; rather, it's a cross between an egg and a banana that has spent far too much time at the fish market. See more Read all reviews
