From the storyline to the cast and the production crew, Outlander not only grabbed my attention, but it motivated me to watch each episode multiple times. WHAT THE FUCK was Claire doing on the battlefield in Outlander Season 8?! Yes, she loves Jamie. WE ALL KNOW THAT! But Jamie is not the only man on that battlefield with a wife who loves him and wants him to come home alive! Claire is a surgeon and healer. Her skills would have been much more useful treating the wounded somewhere safe instead of running around in the middle of an active battlefield. And what made it worse? She distracted Jamie, which contributed to him getting shot! Now this man has to worry about fighting, surviving, AND keeping an eye on Claire. Woman, WHY ARE YOU HERE?! Sometimes Outlander goes too far trying to convince us that Claire and Jamie's love is so extraordinary that nobody else could possibly understand it. YES, WE KNOW YOU LOVE YOUR HUSBAND, CLAIRE! I have loved this show, but I couldn't even finish this season. I stopped watching when there was the most unnecessary death and an incest story. Bad ending to a good run. It has been great through its run looking at the history and whilst the cloying sentimentality was not for me it was all part of it. Fine show overall. Bunch of pointless plots that went nowhere, killing off beloved characters just for shock value, and a terrible ending. See more jULIA M @Julia39 Jul 22, 2026 Though the finale of Outlander had some lovely romantic moments, the season as a whole was terrible. especially given that so much superior material was left on the floor , so to speak, in the last book. The whole season was heavy with foreboding, Fergus's death was unnecessary from the point of view of the plot, also wasted was the time spent on Frances because it went nowhere, and finally, the scene with Jamie's wounding missed the opportunity to show Claire bringing him back to life with the blue light, the climax of her healing power so central to the series. It would have been much better to have followed the book and clearly shown Jamie alive with both of them happily back at the Ridge. Other objections: It is unbelievable that Claire wouldn't have known that Frank called Brianna deadeye; Claire shouldn't have looked about 20 years older than Jamie; the baby's life is never adequately explained and the idea that the lacemaker could have remembered this song is unbelievable.
