Even with bold swings and romance off the table, the rambunctious rapport between Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen makes Platonic an ideal relationship comedy. Read critic reviews

This would have worked for me with two different leads as Rose Byrne and Seth Rogan dust off well worn out roles they have played on numerous occasions and I'm frankly tired by them.

This show is really funny, hoping for a 2nd season.

The dialogue is so forced and unnatural it's hard to watch. They're trying so hard to be witty and chic that it feels like you're watching an AI simulation of what it thinks humans act like. Find something else to occupy your time…literally anything else.

Episode one was okay from a story standpoint, and it had some funny bits. Was curious to see where they'd take the characters. That curiosity evaporated by the end of episode 3. I can't even spell it out because I feel angry that I've already wasted this much time on this show, which offers absolutely nothing you haven't seen a hundred times watching Three's Company reruns.

Two very talented actors tortured with a weak premise. Gave it a few episodes and couldn't stand it any longer.
      • May 28, 2023
Not funny. Three celebrity jokes in the first episode. (What is up with that?) It felt improvised, smug and entitled. I had no sympathy for the characters and cannot understand why they even liked each other as there were both obnoxious. Apple will not let this run for a second season and what were they thinking?

So far so good. Only 3 episodes as of this point. I enjoy the chemistry between Seth Rogan and Rose Byrne. They are magical together. The show seems to work well around them as they are the center of the comedy. Sadly, I haven't gotten to care about the other characters much yet. Maybe as the episodes come, their characters will develop.

The series is legitimately laugh-out-loud funny, as you would expect from Rogen. But there's so much more to it beneath its comedic exterior. It's an exploration of self-discovery. An exploration that is told better in long form, really getting to know the characters and what makes them tick. Even in the middle of life, we're all trying to figure out ourselves and our purpose, and that's totally okay. Life is about the journey, growing over time is the end goal, isn't it? There will be obstacles and setbacks along the way, making the high points even more worthwhile. Life is a special thing, appreciate it.

An incredible, relatable show about middle age, and an unexpectedly female-centered hang-out show. Everyone is great, especially Carla Gallo. I want another couple seasons of it!
      • May 25, 2023
There were a couple of funny moments - I even laughed at one point. But overall it's a forgettable sitcom with Seth Rogen playing the exact same character he's played for the last 15 years. If you're a huge Rogen fan, this is for you. If not, it's really just a time-killer.
