Critics Consensus

Platonic is easy to love in a sophomore season that continues to expertly leverage Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen's explosively charming chemistry.

One of the best double acts working today. Rogen is the straight man who thinks he’s the laidback, funny man, while Byrne is the actual funny man who exhausts herself trying to act as the straight man. Go to Full Review

Platonic, for all its goofier escapades and people getting high (because it is Seth Rogen), is rather sophisticated in its exploration of relationship boundaries... Go to Full Review

This show is a bunch of people hanging out in different groups, people who are really good and funny. Some of it's physical comedy, some of it's verbal comedy. It's a really nice deployment of a bunch of different kinds of comedic chemistry. Go to Full Review

It isn’t always pretty, but eventually they manage to improve each other’s lives. What more can you ask for in friendship? Or from Platonic Season 2? Go to Full Review

It’s clear Season 2 didn’t lose its edge. The show is still dumb in the smartest way, a cringe comedy with real emotional stakes hiding just under the surface. Go to Full Review

Out of everything that's going on, it's very low stakes. And I really admired that about it because it's just fun. It's silly. Go to Full Review

Christina R. @Lomax7 Jan 14 This season expanded to more of the characters and it was done brilliantly. This is comedy gold! See more David F @dfulmer Dec 24 More low-brow fun from Seth Rogen and company. See more John Y. @JYJr16 Dec 2 Another great season with plenty of laughs. See more William R. @MileHighMilk Nov 25 Another home run with the second season. I hope they make more. See more Andrei D Nov 20 Byrne is way funnier and more interesting than Rogen and some of the supporting cast really rocks See more Daniel O @Olshansk Oct 14 The season 2 I wasn't expecting but happy I got. There have been a handful of times when I show I enjoyed was left on a cliff hanger, and never renewed, leaving a gap that will never be filled. The first season of platonic ended on a good note, and I wasn't expecting a second season, so it was a pleasant surprise. Season 1 had a subtle and well crafted tension between a romantic and platonic relationship between two close friends. Season 2 was all about a completely platonic relationship, with no tinge of romanticism, but co-dependence that exceeds any familiar or romantic relationship. It was JUST the right about of cringey, teasing the boundary of funny, yet still fun and entertaining. It made me reflect on what's important to me, and what I can do to help those around me progress on what's important to them. See more Read all reviews
