The drama series based on the novel of the same name written by Natalie Baszile is back for its second season, which brings back the three siblings trying to build a new life in Louisiana as present-day plantation owners. Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) and Davis (Timon Kyle Durrett) go over their arrangements for the divorce, while Micah (Nicholas L. Ashe) deals with it in his own way: getting in trouble. Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) tries to get involved with the sugarcane farm while also dealing with Darla (Bianca Lawson) and her troubles. Nova (Rutina Wesley) is still recovering from losing Calvin (Greg Vaughan) and tries to move on. As the season progresses, the siblings also learns a few things about their late father.

While I feel the narrative was a bit rushed in some respects, I love how the Queen Sugar writers are reckoning with the ways daughters inherent patterns from their mothers.
