Ray Donovan is a "fixer" for Hollywood's elite. He is the go-to guy that the city's celebrities, athletes and business moguls call to make their problems disappear. It's a much more lucrative job than his previous work as a ruthless South Boston thug, vaulting him within reach of the truly wealthy and powerful. But no amount of money or the expensive things it can buy can completely mask Ray's past, a past that continues to haunt him with troubled brothers always calling and his father's recent release from 20 years spent in prison. Now a free man, Ray's father, Mickey, arrives in Los Angeles to get what he feels is rightfully his. Mickey's desire to reconnect and settle old scores with his family -- including Ray's wife and kids, who have never met the family's patriarch and are anxious to get to know him -- threatens to destroy everything Ray has built for himself.

It's a risky choice, but the risk looks like it could pay off as this is the most promising season premiere of Ray Donovan since the series began. Go to Full Review

As the season rolls on, the answers will come, but for now we'll have to settle for the lack of clarity. Just when you think you're out, Ray Donovan pulls you right back in. Go to Full Review

C. Thomas Howell was, at first, unrecognizable to me as Ray's court-appointed therapist, but behind that beard, he does excellent work. Go to Full Review

I was dreading the return of the show, but somehow, it's back to being a show I look forward to on a weekly basis. Go to Full Review

Ray W 01/08/2025 Season 5 was sooooo bad. Must be new writers that didn’t have a clue how to write. Boring, repetitive, annoying completely out of character. Had to fast forward through it See more Dave A 08/16/2024 I was late to the Ray Donovan universe and just started watching this show last year. After finishing Season 5 I can say that the show is still an interesting, complex ride through the lives of these characters and the bodies and lives they leave in their wake. However, I'm having a hard time believing that Ray doesn't drop dead from exhaustion, malnutrition, and alcohol poisoning. Granted, I'm watching 2-3 episodes at a time so it's a lot to take in, but I just find it hard to believe any human being can keep up the pace Ray is running. He's ALWAYS drinking, he doesn't eat, you never see him sleep -- except a couple hours here and there in the later episodes when he likely passes out in his apartment after a huge bender in one episode, and falls asleep at the gym in another. I'm trying to suspend my disbelief, but I can't believe someone so broken, so drunk, so exhausted is able to keep himself, his brothers, his kids, and other randos out of jail. On the flip side, I thought Abby's situation was handled well and I was able to adjust to the flashback-style of the season. As the glue that held Ray and the family together, her story was important since she has such an impact on all the lives of the other characters, and is the catalyst for most of Ray's problems this season. See more TIM M @tm11999 01/17/2023 watch and learn. these people should be put into "the camps" and at some point used for fuel. See more Dalene J 10/14/2021 I think Paula Malcomson must have been relieved to play a less course and vulgar woman than the role of Abby. She was as much a street thug as Mickey. The show is like watching a moral train wreck, just when you think there's nothing left to betray, turns out there is. See more 05/18/2021 Usually tv shows restrict their flashbacks to one episode per season. Season five took a risk, dragging the audience through flashbacks until you are as out of time as Dr. Strange. If you make it to episode 4, it is recommended you fast forward through the flashbacks, as the primary storyline is very well executed. See more 04/20/2021 Prob the worst season of the whole show a bit too much of seeing abby and very repetitive. See more Read all reviews
