Critic Reviews for Rebel Season 1
All Critics (8) | Top Critics (3) | Fresh (2) | Rotten (6)
Subtlety may not be the hallmark of Thursday night dramas, but there's still a breaking point and Rebel hits it.
Aesthetically and narratively, it's about as rebellious as a chocolate chip cookie and that's probably a reasonable thing for a broadcast network to be making in 2021.
Trying to please everyone is a tricky line to walk when you're making a show about a person whose life's calling is fighting the establishment.
A generic legal drama...the series is very formulaic, but it also tries to convince viewers that it's cutting-edge and fresh.
Rebel is an OK broadcast network soap thanks to snappy dialogue and dramatic scenes that should earn the show the nickname "10 Ways to Get Disbarred."
The cast of Rebel is the biggest reason to tune in.
[Rebel is] so smug and condescending that viewers might be tempted to side with the greedy corporation.
In Rebel, Sagal is trying to animate a character whose bellicosity and smug populism obliterate everything around her, including plot, characterization, and credibility.

22h agoThis could be a new show that will give great laughs without the need for extreme social or political statements. Just entertain.

3d agoOne heck of a rotten tomato. Network television at its...worst? Predictable plot, sloppy writing, the cast appears to put in their best effort, but when it comes down to it, is it possible to have that hour of my life back? How does something with an all star cast flop harder than a flounder fish on a boat deck?

3d agoFor the first episode, I thought it was very good. The actors and actresses are going to come into their own over time. The story is interesting and should come together. I will watch anything with Katey in it.
-
5d agoBrash, messy, and downright fun to watch! Never a dull moment.

6d agoThis is a wonderful show. I love Katie Segal as the lead character, Rebel. She is 100 percent believable. This is a must see show!
