Critic Reviews for Resident Alien Season 1

All Critics (28) | Top Critics (13)

Despite the elements that sometimes drag it down, Tudyk and those most locked into the energies of the show's funnier side are enough to keep you curious about where Harry ends up.

Tudyk's such a consummate vocal pro that the series manages to use his voiceover to make the jokes land harder, instead of sucking all life from them.

Despite the frustrating structure, Resident Alien is an easy hangout series thanks in large part to its cast.

Jan 25, 2021 | Full Review…

The show needs to give us less of that and instead mine the comic potential, because the set-up here is appealing.

Feb 1, 2021 | Rating: 3/5 | Full Review…

It's a nice send-up of various genres, based on the Dark Horse comic books. However, it feels too slight to warrant hour-long episodes and would perhaps be snappier in half-hour bites.

Jan 29, 2021 | Rating: 3/5 | Full Review…

Resident Alien knows what it is doing and does it with admirable sincerity. It deploys well-worn tropes without cynicism and plays with others without winking exhaustingly at its audience.

Jan 29, 2021 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

Sadly, Resident Alien ends up like Harry after some whiskey shots: occasionally diverting, but mostly a slow, stumbling mess.

Feb 4, 2021 | Full Review…

Quirky, funny genre mash-up has language, some violence.

The comics adaptation Resident Alien crash-lands Invader Zim into Northern Exposure.

Feb 1, 2021 | Full Review…

There are a few laughs, some funny moments, and high stakes... How exactly those plots will progress, is anyone's guess, but the cast is delivering solid performances if the writing is there.

Tudyk's performance makes Resident Alien work.

Jan 28, 2021 | Full Review…

Alan Tudyk is firing on all cylinders as the earth-bound alien on a mission to destroy humanity, and he's surrounded by an amazing cast that matches him beat for beat.

The dialog writing on this show is horrible. Also, it tris to be funny, and falls flat 90% of the time, and I love slapstick humor..

One of my favorites tv show right now. Good actors and good plot. It has the perfect balance of quotas for sex, race and gender. Will see if is the same good show at the end.

This is our new favorite show. The cast is terrific, the writing is fantastic. It's funny, weird, and sort of creepy at times. Alan Tudyk is incredible, his facial expressions are hilarious and uncomfortable at the same time. The only concern is where the plot will go long term, but we'll worry about later. Based on reviews from both critics and the public, this won't be one of those shows that ends up getting canceled after only a season or two.

This show makes me laugh. I recommend it to everyone. Tudyk is usually funny to me. From first knight to firefly to his droll droid in the Star Wars movie.

Silly, heartwarming show with twists and laughs.

This show is awesome. Perfect vehicle for Tudyk's quirky humor.
