DJ S Sep 25 Season 2 introduced a new format with each episode clocking in at 90 minutes and split into two parts, a departure from the previous 120-minute episodes. While I would have preferred 6 episodes in the season instead of 4 to maintain the same depth, though I did enjoy the adventures of our retired, jazz-loving detective. I think it's funny how Ridley solves the mysteries and then has to tell everyone else on the way. Classic. The scripts are just silly, the direction so bad it makes decent actors look distinctly amateur. Editing is appallingly jarring, plots lack any originality. Any pretence at reflecting real world police work soars out of the nearest window. Dismal. See more Andy R @Robbo260 Aug 21 This has truly got to be a the biggest load of dross I have watched in a very long time. Factually what Police powers does Ridley have, who would talk to him anyway? A predictable and convoluted plot. None of it stands up to scrutiny, who advised the writers. I’m a policeman of 20 years standing and it’s factually and evidentially so incorrect. As for his singing, give me a break. However it does sum up the drama. See more Debbie H Aug 18 Cliche anyone??? OMG how old is the script writer?! This script is so wooden and cliched. I’m not going to criticise the actors because I have seen them in many other dramas and they’re excellent probably because they’re not in a straight-jacket of a pathetic script that anyone could write. No talent here! How do they get funding??? It’s just a vehicle for the main character off the back of his success in The Line of Duty. This is sooo cringing and boring… when I so wanted it to be good.
