Tv Season Info

The story focuses on Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan), a seasoned and cynical Bombay police officer, summoned by an anonymous tip one morning, a voice which promises him an opportunity to capture the powerful Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), criminal overlord of the G-Company. As the stakes mount and Sartaj seeks knowledge of his prey, it becomes clear that the game the two players thought they were engaged in is in fact part of a much larger scenario, one that expands beyond their city.

The series strains to meet such heavy expectations, but the production is generally superb and the writing does not miss a beat.

There's beauty in the way that all of this sinister intrigue is conveyed, but it's a surface-level telling of a story that wants to have so much more in its grasp.

The adaptation by screenwriter Varun Grover is made more effective by the crisp editing done by Aarti Bajaj. Alokananda Dasgupta's original score keeps up the pace and only adds to the suspense and thrill of the story.

It wasn't predictable and provided something out of the ordinary compared to the plethora of other crime thrillers available.

Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane deliver a thriller that doesn't shy away from being an indictment on religion. The show argues that religion has always been used to shape politics, commit murder, and amass wealth.

It may be "just" television, but it's also pushing forth important representation. TV is going global - and Sacred Games is just one way viewers can expand their worldview.

Dec 28, 2018 | Full Review…

I suspect Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane's exquisitely performed screen adaptation has subconsciously been translated by writers who might have internalized the social undertones, subtexts and latitudinal beats of the 928-page drama.

Yeah, you've heard [this] story before, but Sacred Games weds it to a fresh, intoxicating setting.

Immediately captivating, its story in the criminal underbelly of Mumbai coiled like a labyrinth.

Bollywood maximalism meets downbeat Euro noir meets Hollywood gangster epic.

Flashing between past and present, the first episode left me in some confusion, though there was no denying the fevered atmosphere it conjured up.

The criminal-mastermind-toys-with-cop trick is old hat, but the series injects it with neo-noir flair.

one of the best series ever
  • Sep 01, 2019
Surprisingly good with perfect acing, production and a trip Indian cultural references of the past and the present. There series is actually two stories at once, one a detective mystery story about learning the mystery behind the death of crime boss Gaitonde, led by Inspector Sartaj. The other story is about Gaitonde himself, which at first appears to more of a backstory told to learn more about the events leading up to its death. Instead, its the other way around, the story about Gaitonde is THE story, and THE mystery. One of the best series of 2018. Not to be missed.

Season 2 is just awful...The storyline is weak. Political correctness ruined this season.

It's too good better then all
  • Aug 18, 2019
bogus content, pro jihadi and full of blunders. The makers have gone made and replaced the Islamic terrorism with elements of Hinduism. Makers seems to have soft corner for Islamic terrorism, ISIS, Idea of jihad and hatred toward the Hinduism.
