The hilarity comes from the goofy fish-out-of-water scenarios, the heart comes from watching this family finally act like one.

David, played by showrunner Daniel Levy, is the heart of the show.

As so many ostensible comedies turn serious, it's a rare treat to find such a light, sweet, but still pithy show.

Jan 2, 2019 | Full Review…

It's a show about family and community and baby-steps growth that is neither cynical nor sentimental; it is crazy, and crazy sweet.

Katherine O'Hara seriously need awards.

The show has grown into itself. It's deeper and richer now, and funnier for it. It's deeper and richer now, and funnier for it.

It's possessed of a loopy character logic that doesn't always come together, but that's sort of the fun of it. The show deftly maintains its balance of breeziness and sincerity, of zany high-comedy and well-observed nuance.

It is very easy to just sit and watch an entire season of Schitt's Creek and not realize you're doing it, just focused on the nonstop antics that are this family and what they're going through.

Dec 26, 2018 | Full Review…

he show is funny, queer, and silly, but it's also appealingly warm. The writers seem to truly love their characters and want to see them happy. That shouldn't make a show stand out, but it does.

I adore the little enclave that is Schitt's Creek. I want to relocate there. I want to shop at David and Patrick's adorable apothecary shop. I want to work as a waiter at Café Tropical (if for no other reason than to serve Moira her signature fruit cup).

Dec 5, 2018 | Full Review…

The show has fully come into its own, with a whole cast of Twin Peaks-meets-Christopher-Guest-universe characters that are as equally endearing.

It's become far and away one of my favorite comedies to throw on after a long day, because I always know it will deliver.

Audience Reviews for Schitt's Creek: Season 4

  • May 31, 2020
With every season Schitt's Creek just gets better and better, this show is still my favorite comedy show of all time and my 2nd favorite show of all time. The writing has been exceptional this season, the character development has been stupendous especially Alexis going from a dumb spoiled rich girl to a smart businesswoman and David and Patrick's relationship is adorable. The acting from Dan Levy, Emily Hampshire, Noah Reid, Catherine O'Hara, Chris Elliott, Annie Murphy, Jennifer Robertson, Eugene Levy, and Dustin Milligan was phenomenal, they continue to be hilarious and just play off of each other perfectly. Karen Robinson, Corrine Koslo, Tim Rozon, Sarah Levy, John Hemphill, Varun Saranga, Meaghan Rath, Steve Lund, and Scott Cavalheiro gave excellent supporting performances. The chemistry between the cast is just remarkable. The makeup and hairstyling was outstanding especially on Catherine O'Hara, Emily Hampshire, Annie Murphy, Sarah Levy, Chris Elliott, Jennifer Robertson, Dustin Milligan, Karen Robinson, and Meaghan Rath. The costumes are superb especially on Catherine O'Hara, Dan Levy, Sarah Levy, Annie Murphy, Jennifer Robertson, Eugene Levy, and Emily Hampshire. The music is terrific. Another A+ season.

Not that it needed it, but a couple of new faces are a breath of fresh air in season 4 of the wholesome comedy that keeps getting better.
  • Oct 10, 2019
The first few episodes of the series didn't really connect with me, but friends urged me to keep watching, and I'm glad I did! In this season, the characters really start growing and becoming more likable. In a dark dark world, this comedy is a bright light!

I just finished watching an episode in season 4. I was dismayed to hear a racial slur. It may have been in Asbestos Fest, Stevie is about to do some cleaning and is holding a mop. She said something about feeling like she is a Slovakian lady. Derogatory statement toward Slovak women? I thought we were past these silly anecdotes that are hurtful to certain ethnic groups.

Love this season of schitt's creek, as I did all others. The growth, the embracing of where they are, and seeing guys in love as normal is such a breathe of fresh air. fun, conscious, relevant. Love it.
