When divorced gay dad Sean's 14-year-old daughter, Ellie, moves in with him full time, he goes a little overboard in his eagerness to be the best father possible. To Ellie's relief, Sean's demanding job has him working long hours, preventing him from following through on all his carefully constructed homemaking plans. As Sean works to balance his career with raising a well-balanced child -- and dealing with his overbearing mother -- he finds it's a challenging experience, but he's definitely up to the task.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Though Sean Hayes is a gifted comic actor, Sean Saves the World is a mostly conventional sitcom whose efforts to squeeze humor out of Hayes' frenzied antics are more tiresome than funny.

The bad news is that Hayes isn't so much gay as he is neutered. And Sean Saves the World has the archaic look and feel of an '80s show. Go to Full Review

There's a couple smiles here and there but no real laughs and the characters just aren't memorable enough to last long enough for you to program the show in your DVR. Go to Full Review

Tom Lennon interjects what weird energy he can as Sean's new boss, but there's only so much he can lift the proceedings around him. Go to Full Review

I made it through about 10 minutes before the extremely loud laugh track helped me decide this comedy wasn't worth saving. Go to Full Review
