Laced with irony and dark situational humor, the show approaches the subject of death through the eyes of the Fisher family, who owns and operates a funeral home in Los Angeles. Peter Krause stars as Nate, who reluctantly becomes a partner in the funeral home after his father's death.

Critics Consensus

Six Feet Under's deliberately paced second season is less endearing than the first, but the engaging ensemble remain reason enough to watch.

Six Feet Under has us pondering the end of life, but also questions how alive we are in life. That it's done with a clever mix of quirky comedy and heady drama makes the HBO series one you don't want to miss Go to Full Review

... it's clear that the series has left Waugh for Samuel Beckett. After which, amazing television, it could go absolutely anywhere. Go to Full Review

The characters have become so real, and the twists so involving, that three times while watching these episodes I gasped in shock and disbelief. Go to Full Review

See more Max W 06/20/2023 slower pace and more character driven, but this made the drama all the better. Looking forward to season 3 See more 07/27/2021 One of those rare perfect shows. See more 04/05/2020 Like others have wrote, not as good as season 1. Brenda, Billy, Nikolai and Ruth's characters are extremely annoying, but David's and Claire's dating lives are pretty funny. Not nearly as good as S1 but still better than most shows. See more Todd L 12/31/2019 Not as good as the first season, but still better than most dramas on TV. See more Read all reviews
