Critics Consensus

Six's well-crafted action and engaging characters are intriguing in spite of the show's trite premise and familiar narrative.

Critic Reviews for SIX Season 1

All Critics (13) | Top Critics (7)

It's the nuance Six brings to examining what violence does to the men whose job it is to skilfully deploy it that makes it more than just another well-made action series.

Exciting newcomer with lots of action, and some guiding intelligence, too.

Six's disinterest in anything fresh, from an outsider's perspective to a stronger opinion about anything in this world, dooms the series to mediocrity.

I know I'm supposed to have empathy for this [soldier], but the only feelings I have are contempt.

It leaves you none the wiser about what exactly makes Seal Team Six so special.

It will all seem pretty familiar to anyone who watched Army Wives or The Unit, or any number of military-themed programs.

It has a blend of action and moral inquisitiveness that makes the show intriguing.

Six mixes gripping combat with flimsy characters. It's like a CBS show with great military advisers.

Action is action - and this action is well staged - and it's reliably compelling to watch the good guys, with their night-vision goggles, special guns and ninja tread, going after the bad. I

Walton Goggins, a late addition to the cast of History's SEAL drama, proves to be the best reason to watch this awkward brew of fact and fiction.

Jan 18, 2017 | Full Review…

Six, a reverent special-forces drama... tries to be all these things and does none of them very well.

Despite its rudimentary and superficial elements, there is something engaging about the earnestness of Six... Ultimately, however, the show's only successful in a few of its chosen theaters of conflict.

One of the best series i ever saw , amazing story , and fantastic prespective at each soldier normal life , and never boring or blend characters .
  • Feb 03, 2018
A lot of very good characters overcome the typical worn plot lines.
  • Nov 10, 2017
    good action packed series
  • Oct 09, 2017
First two episodes borderline but the third takes a big nosedive. Not worth starting.
  • Jun 15, 2017
Great combination of suspense and action.

I would watch Walton Goggins read the phonebook. There's your concept pitch. Walton Goggins, reading the phonebook. That would be watchable, and this is better than that, so watch it. Does echo the Shawn Ryan/David Mamet series The Unit a little. That's not a bad thing.

This is actually Surprisingly good...Like really good

Following the Season 1 finale - this is certainly a fascinating and breathtaking series. Solid performances and diverse characters slowly drew me in and kept me in. The series itself is mixed patriotic/liberal, seems to be an attempt to court as broad market as possible, but works well for the plot. The finale cliff hangers guarantee a strong showing for season 2.

Love this show! Walton Goggins is great in this role.

Despite the overly critical imperceptive reviews from the 'Tamotometer' this is the best military themed TV series since Band of Brothers. Excellent lead & a strong supporting cast coupled with an intriguing premise leads to one of the better shows of the new year. Really hope the network recognizes this 'mini-series' has the potential to be a hit for the History channel.
