The first three episodes were genuinely great psychological horro, creepy, tense, and full of mystery. Then around Episode 4, the entire show falls apart. The main character has zero survival instincts and ignores obvious red flags from an extremely shady family just so the plot can keep moving. The second half drags badly, with pointless scenes, inconsistent character behavior, and plot holes that never get resolved. Worst of all, after all that buildup, the ending is ridiculous. It isn’t clever or thought-provoking—it just feels dumb and poorly written. The first three episodes made me think I was watching something special. The rest made me wish I had stopped there. The supernatural premise is genuinely clever, but how the fuck they stretched what should have been a 1h50 film into eight episodes is beyond me. It gets increasingly messy and hysterical, with far too much fluff and padding. There’s a good film buried in here somewhere — they just stretched the fuck out of it. The samarra style concept I picked up on at episode 4 and then had to endure 4 more hours of this hysterical shite just to ‘prove myself right’. Maybe if Rachel put the doobie down she would have got to the point quicker. Absolutely padded the arse out of what could of been an and incredibly good film.. Also - taxidermy dogs?
