Mike P @RT09890132 03/22/2025 Moving human interest story, and "found family" drama...From the folks in the whole British-Indie scene; the Britbox folks; who are currently dominating the whole dark, nuanced and adult indie movie-genre, internationally...And this one grapples with mental illness and how it affects a modern, blended family...(Although this is DEFINITELY NOT the Brady Bunch!)...Danny is a disturbed 16 year old orphan; who's dad recently died, his mom died when he was an infant...And he'd been living with his dad for years...Who'd been telling him lies for years about the world...And Danny's recently been institutionalized and recovering from years of abuse, and who's somewhere on the spectrum as a result of this...Probably a functioning schizophrenic....Who adjusts to life ON THE OUTSIDE; with his new adoptive folks and their children; after his aunt takes him in; in their new upscale and suburban-British row house in Yorkshire...And it's all the pressures and pains of that situation; how it affects the family; and the community...And how they all learn to live, love and survive together; in spite of all this... Complicated, but powerful and effective family drama. I highly recommend this! Its lovely all around even though, yes, some of the subject matter is pretty troubling. But even still, it left me with a good feeling in my heart by the end of it. Definitely worth a watch.
