Glowing with vibrant colours and vitality, Searching for Italy looks beautiful. Yet to Tucci’s credit and that of the producers, in Sicily the problems of the island aren’t ignored. Go to Full Review

In CNN’s culinary travel series, Italy is beautiful and the food of Italy is beautiful. Not insignificantly, Tucci is beautiful, too. Go to Full Review

Tucci is a wonderful actor but a less engaging tour guide, largely because he’s as smooth and perfect as a gleaming burrata. Go to Full Review

Sherry M Jul 18 I enjoyed the show & the locations, but they lost points for too much Italian being spoken. They started out with closed captioning so we could follow the conversation, but didn't continue through with all the episodes. I feel like that left us out of the conversation and the stories being told. See more Leon F May 22 Tucci's standard response is 'wow' and 'amazing' which appears so superficial in a show that ironically is about culture and history. Also it looks like Tucci doesn't really connect with the locals which sadly feeds into that stigma: 'Ignorant American vacations in Europe and goes home after some pizza and vino'. See more K C 10/17/2024 Interesting to see Italy. While I like ST as an actor, he seemed to lack enthusiasm throughout. More detail was needed for the recipes being presented. See more M G 01/11/2023 Great show but his politics ruin it. In Sicily he says mass illegal imigration is great for everyone! Really? Clearly hasn't been to Luton or Bradford. Italy is so right wing because there is too much if it and who pays? We can't all be rich actors. He thinks immigration is good because that is what happened with Europeans going to the US. 99% of those arriving at Ellis Island were legal. There is a difference between legal christian migrants and predominantly muslim economic illegal migrants. See more joanna d 09/04/2022 I just started watching this and enjoyed it. A combination of Stanley Tucci, wonderful Italian recipes and a fascinating journey through Italy. Political commentary, however, is a misfire on a food show. See more 05/09/2022 The first season was a fun escape during the pandemic, a lovely, vicarious journey when we could barely leave the house. But the episode with the fisherman -- who had graciously invited him to his home, spent time with him, cooked for him -- was shocking. Tucci completely ambushed this man in a spoiled, entitled display of rudeness and ugliness, something Bourdain would have never done. Poof! The magic was gone, and with it the illusion that the charmless Tucci was up for the job overall. How many times can he utter the same stale adjectives ("Amaaaaazing! Oh my gaaaaawd! Oh wow." I checked in this season and it seems even worse. Same old stuff, but he seems angry and bored on top of it. How about a host who knows something about food? Or an actor with charisma and a sense of fun, like Rupert Everett, who's already shown he's great at this type of thing? Ugh. What a disappointment. See more Read all reviews
