This animated entry in the "Star Wars" franchise fills the gap between the events of "Episode III" and "Episode IV." Imperial forces occupy a remote planet and are ruling -- and ruining -- its inhabitants' lives with an iron fist. A clever, disparate crew aboard the starship Ghost takes a stand against the Empire, facing new villains and colorful adversaries. The rebels on the Ghost include leader Kanan, ace pilot Hera, feisty heroine Sabine, tough guy Zeb and 14-year-old con artist Ezra.

Really, it's just a lot of crazy action, and it's just really well-done, and not quite as burdened down with questionable objectives, like Rogue One's endgame. Go to Full Review

The beloved villain's arrival in the season premiere certainly lived up to the hype... Go to Full Review

It's certainly not all fun and games anymore, but it hadn't gone full darkness yet. It hasn't lost the spirit of hope that it's always had, which made it so special in the first place. Go to Full Review

It was at times gripping, other times solemnly reflective, but was mostly a solid end for what has been a rather good season of Star Wars Rebels. Go to Full Review

One of the many great things about Star Wars Rebels is that it exists in this interstitial space where there is a lot of story to mine and lots of colorful, charismatic characters who populate it. Go to Full Review

Zane M Sep 17 This is the best Star Wars show. The reason is it is set in the imperial era which is where Star Wars is best. I love seeing the beginning of the rebellion and I really like the crew of the ghost. Now it is nice to see that the rebellion has fully been formed. The dynamic between the ghost crew and even Rex. The duels are amazing. I love that they introduced the best imperial ever Thrawn. He is so calculated and calm and that makes him the best strategist. I like Kallus' redemption. I like that Ezra Bridger is now WAY better at the force and lightsaber combat and is now a full fledged Jedi Knight. I like how they showed Kanan needing to beal with being blind after being blinded by Maul in last season's finale. Speaking of Maul his death was amazing. I also liked the whole dark saber and mandalorian story line. See more Leo M Aug 30 The introduction of Thrawn, Gar Saxon and the familiar face of Maul are welcome additions to the show. Despite a presence of filler episodes, it proves to be the best season yet. See more Jeff C Aug 16 The pinnacle of this show’s quality, this third series introduces a chilling new villain and intriguing new arcs, with a blockbuster finale and lots of surprises in between. (ENGLISH) Few animated series have managed to expand the Star Wars universe as successfully as Rebels. At first glance, it might seem aimed only at a younger audience, but it quickly becomes essential for any fan who wants to truly understand the fate of many key characters seen later in The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, or even the classic movies. It takes a little time to get into it, especially if you're coming from The Clone Wars, as the tone feels lighter and the designs are more stylized. But once you get to know Ezra, Kanan, Sabine, Hera, and Chopper, it's easy to care about them and get fully invested in their journey. Each season gains depth, adds meaningful connections to canon, and delivers genuinely emotional moments. What’s most surprising is how well it balances action with character development. Space battles and lightsaber duels are beautifully animated, but there’s also room for fear, loyalty, sacrifice, and the weight of choices. Some episodes leave a lasting impression that goes beyond Star Wars itself. Rebels also works as the perfect bridge between the prequels and the original trilogy. Familiar faces, Ahsoka’s journey, and the growing tension between the Empire and the Rebellion all come together seamlessly, showing just how carefully it’s been built. Sure, there are some simpler episodes geared toward younger viewers, but even those show care, consistency, and a clear intent to build something meaningful. And when the show hits its emotional highs, it really soars. If you care about Star Wars lore and want to feel part of something bigger, this series delivers.
