What to Know

Critics Consensus

The honeymoon is over for Jessie and Tom's courtship as well as Starstruck's euphoric thrill, but Rose Matafeo's comedy still charms with observations about the ordinary challenges of sustaining extraordinary love.

Starstruck, with its high-wire setup and flair for flirtatious banter, feels much more like an updated take on the 1930s screwball comedy. Go to Full Review

Jessie, who is played by the show creator, Rose Matafeo, is a kind of rom-com heroine we just don't see nearly enough. Go to Full Review

The second season is nearly as strong as the just-about-perfect first go-round, offering a half-dozen more bingeable episodes (though lacking a moment as instantly iconic as Jessies post-hook-up dance to "Return of the Mack"). Go to Full Review

Nothing is forced in Starstruck; instead, Matafeo, her friends, and boyfriends (both new and old) bring levity to dating, bringing a smile to any audience member’s face, including mine. Go to Full Review

Matafeo is still a multi-layered marvel as Jessie, especially as the series wades through more of her tumultuous choices. Go to Full Review

Michaila M @RT82948719 Aug 28, 2026 As far as I'm concerned you get 1 season to showcase a circular storyline to define your central characters main character flaws - avoidance and insecurity. Season 2 confirmed there is no arc for the lead character, and this story goes absolutely no where. Rose can write, that is undeniable - the acting is fab, also undeniable. However, this story is common - and in real life, it lasts three weeks...not three seasons. See more Yoshi G @RT49163953 Aug 24, 2023 It is very entertaining but Jessie is very hard for me to watch. Actress is great but her character is so incredibly selfish and it literally pains me and I'm always just feeling sorry for Tom. See more ma'ark t @RT57514104 Sep 11, 2022 Starstruck Season 2 was funny and an easy rom-com to watch. Don't get me wrong it was very enjoyable but just not quite as good as Season 1. Interested to see what happens next season. See more May 2, 2022 Not as good as the first season, but still very funny and endearing! See more Mar 30, 2022 Still good, but a little more over the top this season. See more The_Matthew T @RT40494941 Mar 25, 2022 It's an easy breezy watch but this season does nothing to build on the premise it endeared us to in the first season. My one foot in is now sliding out. See more Read all reviews
