Critic Reviews for Take Two Season 1
All Critics (15) | Top Critics (5) | Fresh (10) | Rotten (5)
Andrew W. Marlowe is the mind behind both Take Two and Castle. He can't very well sue himself for plagiarism, but might want to declare creative bankruptcy.
Seeing these likable characters work their way through difficult situations is fun, and these shows still treat it that way.
Take Two promises to be just that sort of enjoyable show, and if it brings nothing new to the table, that is the meal we have come for.
The question ultimately boils down to whether the Bilson-Cibrian combination is charming enough to keep the cameras rolling, as opposed to yelling "Cut!"
Although the first episode is undeniably formulaic, the second episode hints at a brighter future for this new drama.
I much prefer Sam Spade but Sam Swift is starting to grow on me.
The pieces all come together very conveniently.
I'm going to tell you something, ladies and gentlemen: Through two episodes, this show is way more fun than it has any right to be. And that's mostly because Rachel Bilson rules.
Lighthearted detective show is a less charming Castle.
Cibrian and Bilson have great chemistry, which is a major part of the show's appeal.
Is it a breezy and diverting way to take your mind off the endless parade of horrors that your local ABC station's news report will show you after Take Two's credits roll? Yes. And that's all it needs to do.
"Take Two" is honest advertising. It's the second grab at a winning premise, for the same network, no less. You deserve more.

Oct 24, 2018I really like this show. It has a bit of everything - comedy, romance and action. And the chemistry is great!
-
Oct 04, 2018Oh boy! Like every other show on TV, the last episode puts one of the main character in a position that you know wont last since he is one of the 2 stars of the show. What lazy writing, this plot has been done to death and like the plot this show should now dye, dont get me wrong good show good characters but he lazy writing this early in the run does not bode well for the long run.
-
Sep 21, 2018I cant wait for season 2 to come out !!

-
Sep 20, 2018I love this so much!! I got hooked into it on the 1st episode.. I recommend this
-
Sep 20, 2018I guess they needed something completely like Castle after it got cancelled... cause that's what it is... Castle in new packaging... it's not even trying to be something new. They got nice chemistry, I'll give it that (but I'd be kinda surprised if it got more than 2 seasons).
-
Sep 19, 2018Just plain fun! A show that moves fast with funny dialogue. Keep the seasons coming. Chemistry is great between the two. With so many reality like shows, this reminds me of stories of older times when just pure good old entertainment is delivered.
-
