Whatever the motivation, it didn’t work. Without Ted -- and, by extension, the team he coached -- as an organizing principle, Season Three felt more and more unfocused with each passing week.

All told, it was a very good and touching finish to a not-so-great season. And if it happened to be a trifle predictable, that still worked, mostly because it was hard to imagine Ted Lasso achieving its goals any other way.

Ted Lasso ‘s season 3 finale isn’t perfect, but we don’t need it to be. What really matters is the way it’ll make you feel, making it the best farewell to the series we could have hoped for.
