When an American judge known for anti-immigration views is found dead on the bridge connecting El Paso, Texas, with Juarez, Mexico, authorities from both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border must work together to catch the perp, a serial killer who is operating in both countries. Detective Sonya Cross, of the El Paso Police Department, works with Chihuahua State Police Detective Marco Ruiz, who knows about the slippery politics of Mexican law enforcement. Ruiz's whatever-it-takes approach doesn't sit well with Cross, who has Asperger's syndrome and a by-the-book attitude when it comes to the job. But the two put their differences aside to solve a string of murders on the border, which is already infected with issues that include illegal immigration, drug trafficking, violence and prostitution.

I loved seeing a Mexican policeman's life rendered so realistically and compellingly. Go to Full Review

Diane Kruger is perfectly icy as the "unusual" Detective Sonya Cross. Demian Bichir is super as her Mexican counterpart Marco Ruiz: kindly, world-weary, with a quantity of crumpled charisma. Go to Full Review

It's a cop show, one with a dysfunctional female lead... that takes more than a few hints from The Americans, spicing it up with yet another serial killer story on television. Go to Full Review

The Bridge remains a compelling thriller bolstered by excellent performances and an intriguing political message. Go to Full Review
John Powers Vogue 07/13/2017
The true virtue of The Bridge is not Cross's and Ruiz's police work -- by now, we've all seen enough cops for a lifetime -- but what it casually reveals about life on the border. Go to Full Review

Jeff A Nov 15 Come on. Are writers really this lazy? This is a detective CRIME DRAMA! The detectives didn’t solve any crime. Nothing. They just ran around chasing random leads but never solved anything. They were never a step ahead. They were just led around by the nose by the bad guy. Sloppy writing. And the bad guy? It’s another example of lazy writing when the bad guy mysteriously knows where the lead witness is going to be so he can kill her! He knows when someone is going to check their messages. He knows when nobody will suddenly come home or when someone will turn a corner! Like a genius magician! All-knowing?!?! It’s lazy writing. They can’t get more creative with deception and intrigue and smart police work? Lazy, lazy, lazy! A kid is in a tub full of water - WATER - but he can’t get a single piece of tape off his mouth to yell for help? Come on! If you want to watch inept detectives do nothing for about 10 hours of a season and the bad guy wins in the end, just watch this drivel. See more Patrick P 02/12/2025 The Juarez side looks crazy beat up, I go to Mexico a lot, it's not just slums and mansions. The show runners went too far making Mexico look super underdeveloped. The rest of the show suffers from the same heavy handedness... See more moli n @molinyc 01/04/2025 suffice to say, the original blows this American adaptation out of the water. Of course, subtitles are not for the Mickey Mouse crew. See more JP H @Taocat 01/03/2025 Ok, the series ain’t terrible, but it comes close. It is totally impossible in everything, the plot and I each episode is beyond belief. An evil villain who has access to every weapon imaginable, and powerful explosives. He can also pretty much build anything overnight, from complex plumbing and electronics to hacking into any system. A local deputy who is smarter than the combined forces of the AFT, FBI, and of course any villain. The acting is over the top. The actors all seem to turn their emotions up to high, regardless of the situation. I can almost hear the director screaming for “…more emotion.” between takes. Lots of anger, shouting tears, deep sighs and long pauses. Give it a pass. See more Mish M 10/17/2024 Great series. Great acting. Keeps me wanting to watch. I wish someone would pick it up for season 3. See more Trina H 06/21/2023 This series is ridiculous to say the least. In what real life scenario can a doctor inform a patient's wife that a young boy dying is a match for her husband, who needs a heart. That wife is allowed to go to the room if that dying boy and harrass the father into pulling the plug on his dying son, so her husband can get his heart!!! Not to mention, how many other patients may have been on the heart transplant waiting list for a donated heart. That was crazy ridiculous and unethical to say the least. I absolutely could not tolerate to watch anymore of the tragically poor written series. I should have known it was bad because rotten tomato rated it 91%. I generally do not care for any of their picks for sure!!! See more Read all reviews
