Meredith Stiehm is an award-winning TV screenwriter and producer best known as the creator of the hit CBS police drama "Cold Case." After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, Stiehm began her career in 1994 by submitting a script, "The Letter," to the Emmy-nominated comedy drama series "Northern Exposure," which led to her two-year stint on the popular teen nighttime soap "Beverly Hills, 90210" from 1994 to 1996. Stiehm then moved to the critically-acclaimed, Steven Bochco-created cop drama "NYPD Blue," and received in 1998 an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for her work on that show. After leaving "NYPD Blue" in 2000, Stiehm moved into the role of producer on the well-regarded dramas "The District" and "ER." In 2003, she created the police procedural series "Cold Case," starring Kathryn Morris as the sole female detective on the Philadelphia P.D.'s Homicide squad, who is assigned the low-seniority position of working on "cold cases," or long-ago crimes that have yet to be solved. Stiehm is also the show's executive producer and head writer. After "Cold Case" solved its last mystery in 2010, Stiehm began working as a consulting producer on Showtime's hit espionage thriller "Homeland," starring Claire Danes and Damian Lewis.
