The McKenna family is trying to cope with the untimely passing of Patrick, the family patriarch and a whimsical inventor who touched many people's lives. While the family is reeling from his loss, hope appears in the form of "The Dangerous Book for Boys," a handbook that Patrick created to help his three sons. The how-to guide for childhood inspires youngest son Wyatt, who reconnects with his father in a fantasy world. While there, Wyatt learns life skills that help him navigate the real world. Chris Diamantopoulos ("24") stars in the series in a dual role, playing both Patrick and his twin brother, Terry.

Instead of taking the opportunity for true tenderness, real emotions and actual humor, Amazon has created a show in The Dangerous Book for Boys that is just another show, period. Opportunity missed. Go to Full Review
Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times 03/30/2018
Actually, it feels pretty fuzzy all the way through, conscientiously warm and mostly predictable. Lessons are learned, right on time. Some viewers, and parents of viewers, will take such qualities as a recommendation, and they're not wrong to. Go to Full Review

It's a wistful and charming comedy whose essential message, echoing the source material, is underlined when mum Beth yells at her brood: "Put down the gadgets for a few minutes!" Go to Full Review

03/31/2018 The Dangerous Book For Boys is one of the best shows i've seen in a while. The cast is great. There is a real chemistry between the actors and actresses who are cast in the family. Each episode is it's own unique story but all of the stories are tied together nicely. Gabriel Bateman is a stand out star in the series. He does a great job as wyatt. I strongly recommend this show. Every member of the family will enjoy it. There's something for everyone in this series. Both kids and adults will enjoy it. See more 03/30/2018 Very enjoyable series both funny and sad in the same scene See more 03/30/2018 Anyone born in an average household will Not recognise the premise behind the Dangerous books. They are An imagined childhood formed From faux nostalgia. Read For pleasure, the books are a fun diversion. But No ONE born in a working class household after about 1900 skinned rabbits as a Child. The key idea for this SERIES is for kids To Put Down their Gadgets and Embrace life as it should be lived. The irony is that the Series is just that bit boring and would benefit from more gadgets in the Same way As life Does. I always think, whenever worthies bang on about how kids DON'T climb trees anymore etc. Of the Gary larson cartoon 'what families did before tv was invented' showing a family staring at a wall. Take what you like from this stuff, but It ain't true and, as entertainment it ain't much fun either. So don't feel bad That your kids aren't like this and Don't want to live in an imaginary world not created by a ps4. See more Read all reviews
