Critic Reviews for The Grand Tour Season 2

It's Top Gear, minus the BBC wheel trims but with all that Amazon lolly ensuring everything on screen looks absolutely spiffy. Here

Switzerland is also the best part of the show, even if you're not howling along. It's beautifully - cinematically, expensively - shot. In between the gags and the views, there's even time for a bit of car journalism.

Real men. Weird, mad and pointless, but all the more real because of it.

Despite some tinkering at the margins, the formula continues to be compulsively watchable. If you liked it then, you'll like it now.

Despite all the money, the tech, the gear and the glitz, it feels stuck, beholden to itself. It needs greasening up.

The Grand Tour has improved its format to maximise room for hijinks and when Clarkson, May and Hammond get together you're guaranteed a good time.

Essentially, it's rich white people mocking rich white people with the issue of world hunger caught in the middle. Is that funny? Well, no, not really.

Audience Reviews for The Grand Tour: Season 2

Why. Still a great show....but why. I really didn't like the replacement or the American. I thought he was pretty funny. I also miss the funny celebrity death scenes instead of them actually coming on. To be frank, I find it somewhat boring listening to the chat.

What a boring season, this season felt dated.
  • Nov 14, 2019
I've watched all the Grand Tour episodes from all 3 seasons three times over. A good laugh but skip the celebrity section in season 2 .

As good as the 1st season but not as good as the third, wich is a good thing
  • Jan 21, 2019

    Worth every second, amazing show.

This second series of The Grand Tour still showcases that James May, Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson still have gorgeous chemistry together after numerous years of presenting together. The second series luckily improves upon most of the flaws presented in the first season. But the real reason why every episode is great is because they all tackle a different situation and each have frequently ludicrous jokes. The show works really well because of it's witty and 'diabolically' scintillating dialogue. I am personally not interested in car shows and I don't have any knowledge behind the cars but due to the humour, the well portrayed storylines, the chemistry and wit between the three lead presenters easily holds my attention for the hour each episode runs for. Comedy fans can sit down and watch this programme and have a riotous time due to it's absurdity whether they're interested in cars or not, but the programme can get highly offensive at time so be warned!!! TGT isn't exactly for everyone.
