Dr. Jan Pol has been a practicing veterinarian for more than half his life. In 1981, he and his wife, Diane, opened a vet business out of their home, and over the years it has grown to service more than 19,000 clients. Set in central Michigan's farm country, this reality series follows the work done at Pol Veterinary Services. Specializing in large farm animals, Dr. Pol treats horses, pigs, cows, sheep, alpacas, goats, chickens and even an occasional reindeer. The program also features Dr. Brenda Grettenberger, who has worked with Dr. Pol since 1992.

David H 07/07/2024 I am a long time viewer of the show and was always amazed at the various outcomes to such a variety of animals but I have a problem with the Pols not recognizing all of their support staff with the exception of Dr. Brenda - well deserved, and Dr. Lisa - again, well deserved. The support staff (reception, phone answerers, discharge personnel, pet handlers, etc.) was of the utmost importance to this practice and a segment should have been devoted to all of them. Even just a group shot with an acknowledgement by Dr. Pol of their efforts would have been appreciated. There was a 1 second view of Dr. Nichol and several snippets of Dr. Emily but there was a major emphasis on the film crew; it takes more than a film crew to have made a success of this show and it was sorely lacking. While I realize that this was the Pol family's time to shine, if they considered all of their employees at be 'family,' attention should have been taken regarding EVERYONE who, even in some pedestrian way, helped to make the show a success.
