Series Info

The terrific Britcom about a dysfunctional workplace from hell helped put BBC America on the TV map, attracting a wider audience of hip, young viewers. This wickedly funny mockumentary tracks the monotonous doings at a paper-product firm in the dreary London suburb of Slough. Ricky Gervais (who wrote and directed the series with Stephen Merchant) plays it perfectly deadpan as David Brent, the inept office manager who has deluded himself into thinking that he's both a funny guy and a great boss.

Critics Consensus: Bittersweet, satisfying and surprisingly hopeful, this 2-part epilogue of The Office has perhaps done the unthinkable -- redeemed David Brent.

Critics Consensus: Ending the only way a show about an office really could -- with resignations and promotions -- The Office concludes on a high note that remains utterly rewatchable.

Critics Consensus: With a first season that altered the TV comedy landscape, the original British version of The Office proves the most mundane parts of daily life can be as hilarious as they are cringeworthy.
