A rookery of penguins with attitude -- leader Skipper, brainy Kowalski, loony Rico and young Private -- in Central Park Zoo embarks on what it sees as a series of strike-force missions until confronting an unwelcome challenge to its dominance from a new zoo resident: Julien, King of the Lemurs, in a sequel to the hit animated movies.

[It] will likely be a hit with kids and grown-ups - the animation, stories and broad humor appealing to the younger ones and the nuanced absurdity appealing to adults. Go to Full Review

The zoo is the perfect milieu, the animation is terrific and those penguins, you just can't beat those penguins... they are the most free-flying flightless birds around. Go to Full Review

See more Ryan J @RT21634497 07/29/2024 They are such a great group it is so nostalgic See more Patricia C @RT24187550 02/06/2024 I really like Penguins of Madagascar 2008 Season 1. Because it's owned by DreamWorks and Nickelodeon and it's the best show ever. See more 08/19/2021 Do I have to give a reason why I'm breaking my stupid TV show rule? Mostly because of the trope "Screw the Rules, I Make Them". Not that I intend to review everything, mind you. Anyway, The Penguins of Madagascar is a great show. The Penguins are fleshed out in a way that the movies just didn't have the time to do, the voice acting gives them a ton of depth, the new characters are likeable and memorable, the plots are quite fun and filled with non-cringeworthy writing and hell, the animation isn't even that bad. Sure, it's still obvious that there's the problem of a smaller budget than the movies with the lemurs getting the short end of the stick in this regard but I think children could erroneously think that some of these clips were from the films. The Madagascar franchise's more cartoony Chuck Jones-inspired art style probably helps take the edge off of the smaller budget. Also, the theme tune is awesome. This was a classic released during DreamWorks' prime that works wonders as baby's first espionage show whilst also being much better than older audiences might expect from a show based off a wacky slapstick-based trilogy.
