Starting over isn't easy, especially for small-town guy John Nolan, who, after a life-altering incident, is pursuing his dream of becoming an LAPD officer. As the force's oldest rookie, he's met with skepticism from some higher-ups who see him as just a walking midlife crisis. If he can't keep up with the young cops and the criminals, he'll be risking lives -- including his own -- but if he can use his life experience, determination and sense of humor to give him an edge, he may just become successful in this new chapter of his life.

Marco L @decatur555 May 13 The Rookie is a very entertaining and well-balanced police procedural that knows exactly what kind of show it wants to be. It starts with a clever hook, the older rookie entering the LAPD, but it works because it grows beyond that premise into an ensemble-driven series with charm, pace, and a cast you actually enjoy spending time with. Nathan Fillion is a big part of why it works, but the show is stronger than just a star vehicle. It mixes action, humor, camaraderie, and occasional heavier themes with real ease. It is not flawless, and sometimes it stretches credibility or leans too far into feel-good adventure, but it remains highly watchable. The backlash that reduces it to culture-war complaints says more about the people making that noise than about the show itself. See more Matthew A @WatchWizzard May 4 The Rookie continues to deliver great show after great show! The story, acting, effects, humor, drama, romance, etc. This show has it ALL. Well worth the time investment, and I typically watch all the seasons when this one's on break. Don't miss The Rookie! Worth paying attention! See more D S @DSONDOR Nov 13 This by far and away the worst garbage ever to be brought to the screen, large or small. I grumbled through the first season, why, I have no idea. And now into the second, I kept waiting for any kind of reality to exist. They break so many rules of process, procedure, and physics that I am unable not to laugh at every episode. I just watched a squad car get T boned, both Police Officer occupants were knocked unconscious with head injuries, and the on scene Paramedic dabbed at the skin near the laceration, not even touching the fake makeup. And we're supposed to believe that after head trauma, they don't immediately go directly to the ER for a full night of X Ray, CT, maybe MRI, and the Corpus Collosum medication they give T bone accident victims? There is so much bull$^#& in this show, as I stated for last season...ITS A CARTOON. It is insulting to Nathan Fillion, the other cast members, some excellent, some terrible, and the writing is worse than anything I have ever seen. I defy anyone to give me a better example of a worse show. But it has to have the same big budget high quality ABC style lensing and lighting. This just is outrageously bad. And yes, I am going to keep watching. See more Robert M. @Mydlo1162 Jul 31 Great show! Perfect balance of drama and humor! See more Manulana T @RT40089495 Jul 19 It's a good season, I'm sad about Captain Anderson's death, but the character development is great. See more Marsh X @RT20569085 Jun 25 This season is a great addition to the series as I found it to be just as enjoyable as the first one, it seems though with every season it gets more emotional, which I guess is expected for a show revolved around the police force. Honestly don't have anything to say other than I enjoyed it, this show is addicting and engaging. 8/10 See more Read all reviews
