What to Know

Critics Consensus

With a sufficiently arresting atmosphere and captivating performances from stars Jude Law and Naomie Harris, The Third Day is an intriguing - if overly familiar - addition to the folk-horror genre.

This is a bold, bonkers, and beautifully crafted piece of storytelling. Go to Full Review

The six-episode series is part-thriller, part-horror and all-anxiety. Go to Full Review

Shows like HBO's The Outsider and films like The Curse of La Llorona have recently trod similar ground, but based on it unique form and finale payoff, The Third Day viewers should allow themselves to be lured onto Osea Go to Full Review

The Third Day is a striking piece of folk-horror TV all round, but what often proves most staggering is its constant ability to immerse its audience so firmly in its characters' headspace. Go to Full Review

It might not blow anybody's socks off but for those who choose to stick by it, next month's finale promises a mouthwatering - if, likely ill-fated - climax. Go to Full Review

Third Day is elevated in its knowingness and also by a cast that includes Jude Law, Naomie Harris, Emily Watson and Paddy Considine...the series doesn't reinvent anything, but it's good, eerie fun. Go to Full Review

J M @RT74816738 02/05/2025 It should have been titled "Jude Law's Face." ( and I like him, don't get me wrong). I found it to be disjointed, a little mushy, and chaotic. Some of the camera work was very clever. The sets had an authentic feel, the actors were fine, but the behavior toward Jude's character was murky. It did pick up in a good way toward the end. See more Thoki and Nathan M @Thokozani 12/29/2024 Jude Law and Naomie Harris are favorite actors but this show is just incoherent let’s be honest. Some great trippy scenes and suspense but another English flop nonetheless. Dad lost the son while on the phone with his mistress wtf? See more Gareth v @geewah 06/24/2023 A series that doesn't really kick into gear until it's second half and even then it remains disappointing. It builds the atmosphere nicely, but the plot comes across as a second rate Wickerman and leaves too many questions unanswered. One of the most disappointing shows of 2020. See more 07/08/2021 It looks like folk horror at first, but it's really trying to show how a feudal/monarchical succession struggle would look in the 'modern' world See more Aaron S @RT79746728 06/04/2021 This show was like a heavy weight of anxiety driven tension in the best possible way. There is always something hidden and something darker than the last. What is most impressive about The Third Day is despite doing the "fish out of water" bit 2 times in one 6 episode miniseries, the setting and characters work so well that both times were successfully pulled off and set up 2 additional episodes respectively. Osea proves to be a dreadful place filled with dreadful people. Its clutches grasp some and others fight for their survival. The Third Day is not perfect, but it is infinitely fascinating.
