The Walking Dead (2021 - 2022)

Season 11
The Walking Dead

Critics Consensus

While the sense of finality is diminished by the promise of even more spinoffs, The Walking Dead's eleventh conclusion is a solid enough conclusion to an epic tale of zombies that never had a clear offramp to begin with.

Audience Reviews for The Walking Dead: Season 11

Sad how far this show has fallen since its amazing beginnings... Season 11, like the seasons immediately preceding it, feels as if it was written by preschoolers. Some of it was ridiculously laughable as the writers clumsily tried to find ways to explain the rationale behind the inexplicable & incoherent series of scenes and events that didn't resemble a 'story' in any way whatsoever. More plot holes than plot. Was horrified to see beloved characters 'peform' in completely unbelievable slow-motion superhero-style action sequences. And the awful dialogue!!! If a had a dollar for everytime someone said something along the lines of 'if we all just stick together, we can achieve anything' blah blah, I'd be a kazillionaire. Just SO unimaginative. Must have been hard for the actors trying to keep a straight face saying their stupid lines. Not to mention the series just got painfully slow. Early seasons had so much stuff happen ... in later seasons we had entire episodes of a single character reminiscing about the good old days, with zero story progression. No payoff in the finale ... I was only suffering through the trainwreck the show had become in the hope that Rick returned at the end! (Oh right, can't have that, it would muck up earning as much $$$ as possible from a spinoff featuring his character). Finale was SUCH a let down, full of stereotypical sequences suggesting that (almost) everyone lived happily ever after. Yawn. So annoyed at myself for bothering to watch it through to the end...will be steering clear of the spin offs!!! Stunned that any 'professional' critic could recommend this season (unless they're being paid to do so!).

It seemed rushed wanted to see more about a character that was cut off all of a sudden. This corrupted diplomacy had a bitter end to their arc by leaving questions open for future spin-offs. I hope they don't ignore this underrated statement the character said as last words before losing Pamela's trust. I felt it had some good scenes and loved the practical mixed CGI effects. I am glad there was this season but upset it fed up fans with slower less important dialogs, which while it was interesting does not live up to TWD standard. Ended up feeling like I watched this as a promised commitment to finish the whole series. The multiple mini-series that made up this whole season is what hurt the rating for the means of the overall show.

This open-ended conclusion to a much-loved franchise didn't disappoint & is by far more enjoyable with less silly plotlines than previous instalments.

STAGGERING SHOWDOWN! The beloved series is finally at an end! It was a long time coming, although the Walking Dead franchise is far from over with so many sín-offs announced. This 24-episode season focused on the Commonwealth, a large, prosperous community with a strict class system at the helm of autocratic Governor Pamela Milton who becomes hostile towards the Coalition after her corruption is exposed and her son Sebastian is killed. A new revolution arises against Pamela, sacrifices have to be made, sad deaths are heartbreaking and unexpected alliances come into place. The final stance is a solid conclusion, a great finale with so many characters completing their arc, while the characters we lost through the years were remembered and giving us a glimpse of Rick and Michonne is the cherry on top. What a great and satisfying conclusion to a series I have watched since 2011, despite its many ups and downs, but ultimately it proved it could live up to the expectations.

The harrowing feeling of the possibility of death lurking around every corner that made The Walking Dead so rich was drained for season 11. The air of surprise was exchanged for woke romance sequences and schoolgirl revolution plot. The story devolves into "this thing needs to be represented here" whether race quotas or deus ex machinas. And so it becomes a like soap opera of survival horror. Like literally at the very last second the deus ex machina of characters who were supposed to be far off distances magically appear to bail them out. The deeper tragic irony is plot itself has pretty glaring holes where the exact sequences are shown in a "this needs to be represented here" type of flow. It's like there's no actual reality to story and it's like a pastiche of itself.

Oh how far this once grewt show has fallen. The current writers and showrunners are creatively cowards and should find another profession.
  • Nov 26, 2022
it was a nice wrap up to the main show

This series started off amazing. They took a zombie series and made it realistic and believable. Then it got woke and stupid and more woke and stupid and more woke and stupid. The final season sums up why the show ended.

For me personally it was the most boring season. I literally found myself looking up things on my phone from being bored. Not many things have made me do that. I remember during the first 3 seasons thinking how incredible this show was going to be when it ended. It really failed to deliver. Terrible writing terrible story arch and so many actors that seem to be over acting that made it feel cheap. I was saddened by this

I love this show because of the cast although I have some problems with seasons 10&11 I still love this show and I have a plot summary for it and I hope they do a crossover with fear the walking dead because one of the characters was from walking dead and now he is in fear the walking dead and now here is the plot summary Rick and the entire group and judith grimes rj they do not have weapons so what they have is just fists and the episode will just be 2 hours long
