Trigger is Netflix's most disturbing series, and its ability to move from a regular crime drama into an unsettling spectacle of gun violence with so little effort is unnerving. Still, its message is heard loud and clear if you take the time to look... Go to Full Review

This violent K-thriller offers an interpretation of what could potentially happen when stressed-out people in a heavily gun-restricted society are given access to firearms. Go to Full Review

Despite the weighty themes, Trigger is first and foremost a cool action thriller packed with John Wick-style violence, some brilliant and fun fight choreography, and engaging performances from both leads, particularly the bad-ass Kim Young-kwang. Go to Full Review

I don’t think I could ever imagine living in a world like the one we’re confronted with in Netflix’s Korean drama, Trigger. While we’ve seen violence play out often (I could even say more than often) in Korean media, it has almost never been with guns. Go to Full Review

Trigger tries to address some big issues via what seems like a straightforward case about illegal weapons. But those big issues underpin what looks to be an action-filled thriller. Go to Full Review

Victoria S. @Victoriakolenovsky 7h I like it. It speaks on the glaringly obvious fact of.. how do we stop gun violence if guns are everywhere and there are more guns than police. How do police enforce gun regulations when you don't know which people are going to commit crimes with guns or even have them? It even points out America on the news and shows the characters shaming America for our guns... but when gun violence starts happening in Korea..more and more people choose to get guns to protect themselves. It really hits on the nuance of gun ownership and illegal gun ownership. It does a very good job at explaining the nuance of gun ownership. It hits the moral dilemma. Should citizens have the right to own guns to protect themselves from the people who illegally possess guns. What do we do as citizens when illegal gun ownership skyrockets..and there is no other way to protect yourself except you also getting a gun. A very interesting premise for a TV show. See more Josh Z @cieleux Jan 9 Not sure why this is getting so much glaze, but this show is mediocre at best. The story and characters have to be the most uninteresting aspects of this show. Trigger is very intellectual when it comes to the nuance of guns. We get a lot of iconic weapons shown and brief scenes of weapon assembly. Some good scenes of close quarters disarming of pistols that are generally viable too. Gruesomely accurate scenes depicting the aftermath of shootings included. The conversation between having guns and regulating guns is fairly informed as well. That's about where it ends. Every scene with an individual firing a gun is stupid and overly exaggerated and miss small details like recoil. The villain reveal is dumb. The motivation of the villain is dumb. The corporation that enables the villain to enact his plan makes zero sense but to lazily insert guns in a country where firearms are illegal. The only way you genuinely like this show is if your taste in good media is bad. Thank you. See more Mike G. @wok_is_a_thing Dec 18 One of the worst Korean tv shows I’ve seen. The storyline can’t hold up at all - so unrealistic. The action scenes are like made by kindergartners - laughable at the best. Korea has some good tv series about crimes, especially exploring some sick minded criminals or deep rooted social issues. This one has none of it See more Amy R. @FrankieA Dec 15 This series is phenomenal. I was floored by how good it is. There is quite a bit of graphic content and it’s difficult to watch some scenes, especially the school shooting scene. I highly recommend using caution when watching this show and maybe don’t let anyone younger than 14 or 15 watch it. But having said that, this is a very very good show. I was expecting maybe some of the romantic drama like so many other Kdramas. This is not a romance at all. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of heartfelt moments but not in the way you would expect. The acting is so good, the story is very well done, and I think this is one of those shows that could start a lot of really good conversations about gun control, and things along those lines, all over the world. This is a show worth watching. I have recommended it to several of my friends and family members, and I will be watching it again soon. It's a drama that will leave you thinking, it's very well made and keeps you interested from beginning to end, and hoping for a Continuation. We'll see how that goes. It's worth watching.
