There was once a "Giant of Light," named Ultraman, that defended the world from the threat of monsters and alien invasions. He completed his mission years ago and subsequently departed from Earth. Humanity welcomed an age of prosperity after Ultraman's job was finished, but the world again needs the power of a "Giant of Light." This time a new hero emerges in the form of a normal-sized, troubled high school student clad in a metallic suit. He is Shinjiro Hayata -- the son of Shin Hayata, the man who was once Ultraman -- and he struggles to become the Ultraman of a new generation.

Despite the CG and the lack of serious context, “Ultraman Season 2” actually emerges as a rather entertaining series, quite easy to watch, and with rather impressive action scenes. Go to Full Review

It's far from being a great anime, but I'd argue that it is a much more entertaining anime than its predecessor. Go to Full Review

Ultraman Season 2 is campy, silly tokusatsu goodness. Its animation isn’t anything to write home about, and the narrative isn’t a complex analysis of the human condition. But what it is is entertaining. Go to Full Review

Vikkus V Aug 28 Compared to season 1, it's definitely less interesting. Season 1 really tried its best to explain plot points, wrap up character arcs, and played around with deep themes. Season 2 feels like it was rushed, with a lot of jump cuts and plot lines that make you go "Huh?" The action is good and still enjoyable, and the animation is nowhere near as bad as other critics make it seem. It's definitely full of cool scenes. Sad thing is that you can see a semblance of a good idea through season 2, and if it had been less rushed, it would've been fun. But as it is, it's less than satisfying. Also, this is my first exposure ever to Ultraman, so I guess that's got to do too. Season 1 was 9.3/10 to me, but season 2 was 5.5/10 Watchable, but less fun. See more 04/22/2022 Great pacing and clever use of nolstsgia. Been reading the manga first b4 the anime was released and this holds up really well. As a 42 year old fan of the original ultraman TV shows since the 80s,the plot for season 2 bringing back key characters from various Ultraman was extremely well planned and action was spectacular. See more 04/18/2022 Unless you like the OG show, compared to the first season this was a bit of a let down. Despite not seeing the 1966 original show the emphasis they put on legacy in season one was not lost on me and it did a spectacular job of bringing the world into a more mature setting in terms of themes, writing and art style which I loved. However season 2 seems to have attempted to back track its mature themes and thought out plot to the effect of returning to themes similar to those in the 1966 show and other teen series. these new themes and some poor writing have only hindered the show as they do not co-operate with what has already been established in season one. It's six episodes long and without sounding mean, I'm okay with that. I now have 2.5 hours spare that otherwise would have spent wishing that the show would improve. I don't know %100 what happened behind the scenes but I hope they fair better when season 3 rolls around See more 04/14/2022 This adaptation is a waste of time. The first offense is the anima style used which I consider to be the worst possible to tell a story. The animation is way too slow and the voice overs are just as boring and slow paced. Story wise, it's OK but there's absolutely no thrill or reason for additional seasons. See more Read all reviews
