In this reimagining of the classic Dracula story, the world is dominated by vampires, requiring humans to work together to survive. The series centers on Vanessa Helsing, daughter of famed vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, who wakes up after a five-year coma to discover a vampire-controlled world. She soon learns that she possesses a unique blood composition that makes her immune to vampires and able to turn the creatures into humans. That power puts humanity's last hope to return the world to how it once was before the vampires took over in Vanessa's hands.

As a contemporary horror tale, Van Helsing succeeds not only through its charismatic titular lead character but because it understands the delicate balance of narrative elements demanded of the genre. Go to Full Review

Rowan C @RowanC3 Mar 1 This season mainly focused on the one true bad guy of this whole show The Dark One who is played by Tricia Helfer. We are introduced to the new Van Helsings of the show Violet who is played by Keeya King and Jack who is played by Nicole Munoz. It is said that the eggs of Vanessa were pulled out of her during her time at the farm and were used to create the two sisters who also have the ability to turn vampires back into humans. I will say that they are not as exciting as Vanessa because they are looked as the main characters when Vanessa sacrifices herself by throwing herself at the Dark One into the portal that leads to the dark realm. Hansen who is played by none other than the goat himself Neal Mcdonough was supposedly their dad but was revealed that he was actually a vampire named Willem. He told the girls that he never made them to sacrifice them for the dark one but made them with a bite that could kill the Dark One once and for all. When the dark one was released in the first place, this resulted in Sam sacrificing himself as the elder because that is what he wanted to do. Axel was damaged after Scarletts' death and he actually tried to kill Vanessa at the beginning of this season but soon realized that he did not want to do that. He set out on a different mission where he met this guy Max Borman who is played by Richard Harmon and it turns out that he is the warden of the prison that Flesh is trying to break into to save his wife. Max was a real corrupted man and at the end of their battles, Axel is finishes him off with Flesh who was defending his family. Flesh found out that he had a son and he made up for the stuff he did while he was a vampire. He left with his family towards something better and that was the last time we saw him in the season. Doc was taken early in the season and she was sent to a unit called the Sunshine unit. Joelene was last season trying to find Doc when her and Flesh separated after the prison was blown up. There were a lot of things that happened before hand such as Julius killing Scab and Violet turning back Ivory who is played by Jennifer Cheon. This happened at the fighting area which they were at for a small amount of time in this season, but they found out that there was a real world watching these broadcasts. Ivory and Jack killed Michaela who is played by Heather Doerksen which led to Jack turning all of the sisterhood back to humans. The Oracle whose real name is Bathory killed Willem towards the end and was released by the Dark One. Before this, Violet obtained the pages which helped her and her sister go to the dark realm. Over in the dark realm, they were shown the truth about their father and Jack was possessed by the Dark one which left her trapped in the Dark Realm while the Dark One was free in the real world. The Dark One escapes portraying herself as the president and the people who are trying to stop her are shot multiple times. Julius and Axel are in their own predicament in which they step into a biohazard area, and they are damaged by a super powerful vampire who can't be stopped. They realize after the fact that they aren't healing anymore and sadly Julius dies at the end of the season while Axel is struggling to breathe calling out to Doc that they need to be let inside so they can be fixed. Overall, it was a pretty mid season but I have liked the show so far and hopefully the final season is great. See more Thomas A @Txa66 06/23/2024 Van Helsing was so good the first three seasons then midway into the fourth it was like the writers let the interns take over with orders to save money as much as possible. The absence of Kelly Overton was telling. There was long, pointless dialogues where the characters were walking and talking with no purpose with dwindling action and gore. That's when I gave up watching. See more Toms c 06/11/2023 The show has lost a bit of pacing and some episodes are harder to get through. Still it's worth it and I'm sticking by this show. See more 12/29/2020 ‘Good!' ;) up to end of season 3, now it's it's just plain embarrassing to watch. The switching Vanessa and scarlet for the 2 new girls was plain stupid. New girls are boring, zzzzzzz See more 10/13/2020 I watched the first 3 seasons and loved the first. But the storyline just got progressively worst and weak as hell. The writing is so cliche, like a first-year screen writer wrote it. I even told myself, give in to it, its supposed to be this campy. But damn it was hard to finish this season. See more 09/11/2020 I absolutely loved the first three seasons, cast, and characters. Season 4
was so disappointing first Vanessa basically loses her will to fight or kill I get it her story arc is over but why?? Then you give me two new leads that I'm supposed to care about but I don't. It's not that I dislike them I don't; I feel like they came out of nowhere and only served as Vanessa and Scarlett's replacements which is why I don't feel attached. They disappeared or killed off half the main cast like whf does that. I get that people have babies or they quit or get fired but that's when you use that supposedly amazing writing staff to write a plausible exit or story true to the show instead of writing a bunch of nonsense because its science fiction. Hopefully season 5 is better which I may or may not be watching season 4 kind of turned me off the show a little. Do you really expect me to believe that Violet is supposed to be of mixed race...no she's not
I'm all for #teamdarkskin but this was obviously a #teamlightskin moment they just needed another token black girl because they wrote off the first. I got to know a lot of back stories and character buildup only for it to be crushed. See more Read all reviews
