"Westside" provides viewers with a deeply personal glimpse into the journeys of nine young Los Angeles-based musicians who are following their musical dreams. Each episode sheds light on the performers' creative processes and personal struggles, using a combination of documentary footage and music videos featuring original songs. Along the way, the musicians develop an ensemble performance for a potential live showcase at a L.A. nightclub, while each deals with multiple jobs, dwindling bank accounts and long-distance relationships. They have varied backgrounds, but the featured singers all have big dreams -- and they're willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals. Among the cast members is Pia Toscano, who is no stranger to musical reality shows after finishing in ninth place on the 10th season of "American Idol."

While it’s American Idol without the competition, MTV’s The Real World without the house, don’t call it Fame without the script. Go to Full Review
