... Spectacular, even if the wonders were more familiar and owls and dormice will never quite be as sexy as iguanas versus racer snakes. Go to Full Review

It would have been too easy, though, to have allowed Wild Isles to be dominated by mawkishness and declinism, as grim as the picture may be. Instead, at least at first, we got a celebration. Go to Full Review

In a rough week for the BBC, this was the corporation at its absorbing best, with an opener featuring eagles, geese, puffins, ancient oaks, sleepy seals, patrolling orca, whizzing kingfishers and the odd environmental musing. Go to Full Review

Shaun E @RT79608371 04/20/2023 David Attenborough programmes have taken us on a journey around the world and delighted us with so much of the natural world yet our own home in the UK has been neglected up until now. Not starting to show his age, his voice occasionally falters, but the story is as magnificent as ever. The camera work here is superb and it is wonderful to see things that are in our own back yard. Five programmes which each show the urgency of looking after our own wildlife here in the UK, and a sixth that is only available online which was very much worth watching too. Memorable bits include the leaches and toadlets, the starling murmuration on Bodmin Moor and salmon returning to their river of birth. But those are just the tip of the iceberg. Just because this is British wildlife does not mean that it is not as fascinating to watch as earlier works. See more Elizabeth O @RT05858960 04/18/2023 Attenborough at his best!! Stunning series!
